in early december i'm off to see a surgeon
about getting my 2nd kidney removed, i'm interested in
the pros and cons of doing this , the idea behind it is
at last measurement its about 27cm,i'm 5 ft tall, 124cm abdomen
and its function is under 5%
generally trying to ease the squeeze, i get bloated most times i eat there fore don't eat a great deal,
there fore not taking enough meds with food as i should.
then the constipation,tried all stuff for that , not much seems to work.
neph says i need to lose weight to be at my prime for a transplant,
when i try to exercise(bike riding) i seem to gain weight
fortnight ago i went to dialysis nearly 6 kilos over my base weight WTF
:thx; in advance

Ang it sounds so painfully uncomfortable that I can see why you'd want to have it out. Does your 5% function mean that you still pee some? Could you eat more fresh veggies to get more fibre to help with the constipation? I have more questions than answers but it does seem to me that you need to exercise, for many reasons but most especially to be in shape for a transplant. If having it out would help with that goal, and assuming that transplant is your goal, then it makes sense to do it.
I'm hoping that Pelagia will respond to your questions because her husband had both kidneys out before his transplant.
Start making a long list of questions for the appointment in December. :cuddle;

Benefiber has really helped my with constipation, and eating high fiber foods. Fiber One cereal is very high in fiber, it doesnt taste very good but you dont have to eat a lot of it for it to work. Getting in shape is best for you for when you get a transplant. You shouldnt be neglecting your meds,they take those things in consideration when deciding who is a good candidate for transplant.
