Hi:
My name is Bruce and I am 72 years old. About 3 years ago my family doctor ran the usual tests and informed me of some problems with my kidney function. He referred me to the Neph Dept at his
Hospital ( a major teaching institution in the South ) who confirmed his suspicions and notified me that I was in Stage 4 of Kidney failure ( Creatin 3.2, GFR 19 ). I was told I would be on Dialysis in a very short period of time. I put myself on a very strict diet, and good exercise program - three years later I have a GFR 0f 17 and Creatin 3.7. This April they put a Graft in my upper arm as my veins etc were to small (another perk of being old). I know my time is running out but will do my best to confound them as long as possible.
Have been lurking at this site for awhile and have picked up some very valuable info - I hope to be able to contribute when the time comes.

Welcome Bruce,

You have done very well the last three years,  :bow; it's not an easy thing to accept but such is life I guess. Did the Doctor say what caused your kidney failure? Just curious. I hope you continue to receive helpful information from IHD and don't be a stranger, we enjoy having new victims   ;D members to get to know. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself.

Hello Bruce, welcome to IHD.  I too, like you, have a GRF 17.  It has been at 17 for a year now.
You will find on this board that life goes on even with ERSD.
