13 locations net drug officers more than 1,000 marijuana plants

By Bill Froehlich
Monday, September 08, 2008 at 1:05 a.m.

The Straits Area Narcotics Team says they've pulled a million dollars worth of marijuana off the market in the last two weeks.

The busts happened since August 21st, in Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Mackinac, Otsego, and Luce counties. Enforcement officers say they've seized 1,085 marijuana plants, worth almost $1.1 (M) million dollars.

Officers recovered those plants from 13 different locations in those counties, and also seized weapons, vehicles, and drug paraphernalia. Investigators say they'll be asking for arrest warrants related to the discovery.

Now I know what all those helicopters were doing around here lately!

Around Washington State the drug enforcement people are finding that the rich drug lords from our southern neighbors are buying large Vineyards and orchards and planting huge quantities of MJ among the trees and vines.......

Too funny guys....when I was young and very nieve my husband was a boy scout master, lots of friends on the police force..someone gave him some m j seed in a bag to show his troop...I did not know this, found the bag of "radish" seeds on a table and thought I'd plant them to see what I get...well, I do great indoor plants and these were beautiful...husband was very busy so didn't pay too much attention to my plants until the day I rearranged them to bring more focus on my beautiful two foot tall greenery..he walked in the house after work, walked past THE plant, did a double take, grabbed the POT, took it outside, threw it in the garbage while I was absolutely stunned, he then came in and went on about "they are going to throw me in prision, how could you do this to me, all the guys on the force are going to laugh at me" etc...well when he calmed down I finally got out of him that my radish plant was really ...._ _ _...and the guys on the force laughed at him for years about my green thumb...that was a beautiful plant...

They are extremely beautiful plants and can grow really really tall.  Traveling through India many years ago, I had to pee so followed some sari-clad ladies to a spot we were told we could use behind the bus station.  There, we all arranged ourselves amongst weed plants that were taller than me (not hard at 5'2") and I only regret I didn't have a camera.
In Sri Lanka, I also saw some very fine specimens growing against the wall of the local police station.

my dad is a landscape architect and at one time worked for a firm in san fransisco. one of the guys had his drafting table in front of the window and  had a plant growing on the windowsill. every now and then he would reach up and munch on a leaf.

:rofl;  My parents used to own a nursery in Clearwater, Florida.  My Dad (the landscaper) had a visit from a young couple who wanted advice on how to grow MJ.  So Dad told them to leave the seeds with him and he'd get them started.  All went well until Mum went back to the "plant hospital" area one day and found about thirty lovely healthy young seedlings that she didn't recognize.  Dad told her what they were and she was really mad but he convinced her to let him call the customers to come pick up their property.  They did and he made them promise to send their friends and family in to buy plants from the nursery and told them that he had gotten into trouble on their behalf.  They did in fact refer several people, all of whom told Dad that he had been highly recommended for the quality of the nursery's plant material.  More amazingly, none of them were looking for MJ.  Just houseplants.
