A company in Pennsylvania has been working on a form of dialysis that occurs via the digestive system.  Using speciallly cultered bacteria that would consume the body's toxins as food is an approach being taken by a company called Kibow Biotech.  They've had a presence on the web for some years now but are little known and I don't think their product has ever replaced the common forms of dialysis at least in a person. That is interesting.

I often wondered why we can't use our largest organ to filter out toxins...Skin.  We sweat out some sodium and who knows what else could be pulled from the blood to the skin and out.

It is always interesting to read a web site for the facts that it does not include, rather than for the facts it does include.

they have started the enteric dialysis concept.
i talkec to them but Sr vice president{R & D} told me that this is not for ESRD patient.
it will not reverse or repair the kidney damage but will enhance the quality of  life of predialysis patient in the form of decreased accumulation of toxic wast.r

Are you sure? That's pretty disappointing - I think I remember reading somewhere on their website that they were planning to use gut therapy instead of dialysis, not just as a pre-dialysis treatment...

Really - why couldn't it be used in conjunction with dialysis?  Wouldn't it just help us be healthier?  Especially patients on regular 3X a week in center?  Seems like taking something that would help keep the toxin levels down would be good, even if we still need the fluid removed regularly.

Hey everyone, I realize this is a really old topic but I'm considering ordering Renadyl for my husband who is on peritoneal dialysis with ESRD (GFR of 4). I figure why not give his body a little help with those toxins.. But my concern is that some of the things that build up and become toxic are needed by the body in small doses, so wouldn't this Bacteria be robbing you of nutrients you'd normally get from your food?

I tried this product, and it works.  It reduces protein wastes in the blood.  It doesn't effect phosphorus, though.  And it's not cheap.  You have to keep it refrigerated.
