I'm starting to get very irritated

I do have some good times, but right now I'm feeling that for the most part, I can't do anything right! It's small compared to some things, but I just discovered that I basically threw $40 down the toilet. I bought an aluminum rifle case from a vendor at the state fair for $40. I was so tired from being at the fair all day, when I got home I just stuck the case in a corner and didn't do anything with it. I just got the case out to look at it, and discovered that it has a combination lock as well as the four key locks that I knew it had. I have no combination (the combination is supposed to be "set" when the lock is open. Well, the lock is closed and I have no way of getting it open. So I now have a $40 case that I can not use, and since it was sold by a vendor at the fair, there are no refunds, and there is no way for the vendor to know exactly what case he sold me. Again, this is comparably small compared to what most of us face with our medical condition, but I really couldn't afford this $40 but I didn't want to pass up the really nice rifle case, and I'm just sick of doing everything wrong. The few things that are going good in my life right now, I'm just waiting for them to crap out like everything else. About the only thing that's going consistently well for me is my model building. Unfortunately most of my family seem to think I'm spending too much time and money on them, and no one ever wants to look at them. Sometimes I just don't feel like I'm good for anything. I'm glad I can come here and talk about it with all of you, though. Like I've said before, I don't know where I'd be without IHD.

Adam, you might be able to find the cases manufacturer online and get a solution to the lock problem. What a pain! i do that sometimes. I buy something but don't look at it until later. And in most situations it works out fine, but once in awhile I get skunked. I am sorry you have to deal with it.
As far as the model building goes - keep it up! I am glad you have a creative outlet that you can do - don't worry about what anyone thinks!

Adam it sucks that you're feeling like you are right now and that snowball effect of thinking that nothing will ever go right is awful. I often think that because we deal with BIG stuff all the time, the "little" stuff can really tip us over the edge. I always think that I shouldn't have any minor crap to cope with because I'm already dealing with very major issues. I can get irritable quite easily but have to keep fighting that because then irritating things seem to happen even more often.
I hope you hit an up patch soon and keep remembering the gift of the scooter as an example of good things coming your way.
Also don't give up your models. We like looking at them here and if you get pleasure from doing them that's all that really counts.

WE enjoy looking at your models, they are fantastic, don't let anyone stop you doing what you enjoy. Sorry things are not going right for you but do try a web search as Karol suggests, you may just strike lucky.

A lot of times the combination is an easy one and once opened you can change it yourself. Try to make contact with the manufacturer and see what the default code is. Otherwise you might try and go to the vendor and ram it where the sun don't shine.
Adam you can't let these things get to you, don't think for a minute that we all don't make mistakes like that. I am really short on money right now also and like a dummy I spent $26.00 on lunch for me and my son yesterday, but sometimes you know we need to do that in order to get a break from the routine of doing nothing. Put it behind you and move forward, you are one great guy and spending your time depressed is just a waste of time. Also build the models for your own enjoyment not others. Expect nothing from others and you won't be dissapointed.

Is it 3 or 4 number combo? If it's 3 you could cyle through them say doing 100 at a time or something. I thought such things were usually set to 000 or something obvious like that when they are made so they can be reset easily. I am sure all is not lost - it might just take a lot of time to hit the right numbers if you can't find a better way in.
It sounds very frustrating I agree and sometimes it's those "small" things (you know what I mean when I say it's small...) that can break us when we're dealing with such big health issues like CKD. It's sort of like "Oh great not THIS too!" - I feel that way when something liittle breaks like my window winder did the other day, or other stuff.. pretty trivial in the grand scheme of things but a total pain in the butt that just take it right out of you when you need your energy for the bigger things.
Good luck with it. The case is not useless I am sure you will get it opened...

Thanks everyone, I feel a lot better now. I guess I was just having a not so good day yesterday because of my severe foot pain and just plain feeling like shyte. The issue with the rifle case just kind of sent me over the edge. Like monrein said, I can remember how I got my scooter and how uplifting it was, and see that there are things that go right for me. Most of the time I don't mind not having anyone look at my models, but occasionally I just wish I could have someone else that wants to see them as well. I am very glad to post pictures of them on here, though. Again, thanks for the encouragement. This is just another reminder of how much I love IHD.

Adam...ADAM...listen...""Put down the case""" Step back from the case and breathe in and out......are you laughing? good.
We purchased a brief case like that once and were ranting all over and I decided to try 0000 and it worked.......sometimes as in bad little things it is good little things that help us. I'm sure you will get it open.
As for the models.......do them for yourself as long as you possibly can, at least until you are 150 years old. They are beautiful and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. Sometimes I think my sons spend money just a bit too weird but I just shut up and let it go. It's their money and since this ESRD we all have more important things to concern ourselves with. I would never in a million years have thought they would have to join me on something like this. You just keep being you, the encouraging person you are.

One bit of good news, I got the rifle case open. However, I had to do it by destroying the combination lock. It still has four key locks, so I'm not concerned about security, plus I only plan to use it to transport my rifles rather than to store them. It was supposed to be set to 000 by default, but I discovered a part had broken on the inside, and it would have never been able to be unlocked. It sucks, but at least I can use it now. Again, thanks for all the support. I've got a couple more models that I can post pics of if anyone is interested.

I would have done the same thing, break it open. If it has other keys then it is still usable. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
I would like to see your models. One thing I love is looking at something someone has made with their own hands.
There are some who would rather than bite their tongue off before they would compliment someone. Chalk it up to jealousy because they know they can't do what you do & don't have the talent you have.
