As you all know I have been back at work for a week and a half.  Holy cow!  The work load doubled and my aide and I are going slowly insane.  If I give an assignment a period we have 91 papers to grade. My poor aide is losing her mind.  The reason, our district people decided we do not have the numbers for three RSP teachers.  This means the other RSP teacher and I have all of the sixth seventh and eighth graders on our case loads.  I currently have 34 when I am supposed to have 28 on my caseload, in addition to teaching all of these kids. I may run off into the football field screaming one day.

My seventh graders had me last year and my clowns picked up where they left off in June.  I am being mean to them because they need to know to get to work when they come in my room. The sixth graders get hollered at by me too after I have had the seventh grade class from hell Poor little guys.  I almost have all of their names down now.  Geez!  My biggest class is 23 and I am a special ed teacher!  Please pray we get this figured out and get a new RSP teacher soon on our site.

sounds like you teach in Conroe ISD
I've had 90       7th and 8th grade students
with 40 on a case load
they got rid of our aids and we divided up all the office paper work and ARD paper work
I know what you are enduring but oh, how I miss it
I want to go back in the classroom
OMG- collecting grades from teachers every three weeks---- that is a joy
special ed teachers should be paid more--
IEPS--- updating and following------ I could go on and on
but------- do not want to upset you
I MISS MY TEACHING JOB

Teachers do NOT get paid enough for all they do for us.  I have been on this wagon for years and I'm not even a teacher, although I wanted to be. GO teachers.  Where is a pom pom???

Teacher's aide???  What's that???  :sarcasm;  We don't have them here. We are very lucky we we get a "student" assistant for a problem child.  I taught special needs for years with no help at all. Very difficult to do. I also had 25 grade 2 students last year with no help  :banghead;.  Loads of correcting and trying to keep control of the class.  This Sept I will have about 20 students. One of those is ADHD and opositionally defiant .  No help for him in Gr. 1 but testing was done. May have a fight on my hands to get help for him this year. I also have a group of students coming to gr 2 next year who are very weak academically. A couple of them don't know the letters or numbers yet much less be ready to start reading or do grade 2 math!!

Do they not hold back students anymore?  When did that become taboo, anyhow?

*Hugs* to kitty - sounds like you need them!
