This is me Lori , Dustin's mom

« on: August 09, 2008, 07:20:34 PM »

Hello friends,
I received a big envelope that had a beautiful letter in it. They said the man that got Dustin's lungs is 24 not 20 and is from Maryland and is doing great. He had been on the  list since March . He is also disabled.

A 65 yr old man from New Mexico got his liver!!!!!!! He works in a lumber yard. ANd said he is doing great also!!!!!

We also got a certificate signed by the US Surgeon General.

Yea, I cried reading it but know Dustin is smiling.

Have a great day tmrw!!

Lori, how nice to hear that Dustin was able to give a second chance to these people.  I know you will treasure those letters.  I think about you often and hope you keep posting.  How is Jasmine doing?  Sending a big hug  :cuddle; and love.

You may disagree, but I think it would be great if you could meet these people someday. In a way, Dustin is a part of them and his legacy lives on through them.

I was so pleased to read your post Lori.  It gave me chills of joy but then of course I remembered the tragedy that made this all possible.  So glad those people have a second lease on life, so sorry Dustin is gone. :cuddle;

Yes, Dusitn's legacy lives on. The letter was not from the receipients but the organ procurement letting us know the age, gender and what they got.
We have an open invitatoin to the receipients that they can write, call or meet us in person. We would so love to meet them.

I am doing pretty good. Still miss Dustin something terrible. Gary my hubby and Dustin's dad said he was woke up by Dustin today. Dustin yelled "Dad" in his left ear as clear as could be. Gary said "Ok Dustin I know your here". Dustin is still around us. Not physically but in the afterlife.
