Nala - Mom's Cat

« on: July 25, 2008, 07:48:02 AM »

Took my drummer son and his two bandmates to see over 80 bands at the warped tour. Angels and Airwaves is the band whose music they play. Darien Lake is near Buffalo/Batavia. (I'm am so bad with directions, that is why last night I took 90W instead of 90E!!) The concert ran from noon until 9:00. We left at 7:30 because there was no way I was getting caught in the parking lot.

My feet are sore, legs from walking all day, arms from carrying three coolers, back from the 10min chair massage I got in the parent's tent (she really was hurting me while she was doing it), and just a tad sunburned. We would have gotten home at 9:00 but I decided to take them to see Batman! Got to the movies at 9:30 for the 9:45 show, grabbed a pizza, they sat way up top and i sat alone (boo hoo lol - I dont mind). Turns out my oldest son planned on going too. He gets so annoyed tho. Told him we were going he says, "me too," said Nick and his friends are sitting up top "me too" Then he texts me just before the movie starts and says "awww, mommy is sitting alone.' I text back 'waaa lol.'  I must have done 100 texts at the concert cuz you just can't hear on the phone. My husband called me and after a few seconds we both just hung up!

So tired and sore today. Nick had badly sprained his ankle at his baseball game on Father's day. Took over 3 weeks to get the swelling down and that's with therapy. His ankle was so swollen last night. Still got a long way to go.

Well, back to work if I can keep my eyes open!

Warped Tour - hurray!  Good for you, ODAT!

My 18 year old went last year and 2 years, ago.  Last year, she and her friends donated blood, and received backstage passes for the day!  Lucky kid!  (She doesn't really listen to alt. rock, but there were a few bands she wanted to see.)  She got a lot of close-up photos backstage.  She couldn't remember who most of the band members were, but I recognized a few . . . I was like "Ooooh that's Ronnie Winter and his band Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - you got to meet them and hang out?!!!"  She looked at me like "How in the world do you know who these guys are?" (I listen to alternative rock - its my fave, besides opera and classical . . . go figure?!!).

Hoping I'm up for Projekt Revolution in 1 week (I'm only 6 weeks post-transplant and really afraid I may not be up for an all-day concert festival!)  Went last year w/ my 14 year old and had a blast!  The line-up was fantastic! This year's is, too.

Got us 8th row seats this year for PR '08! :bandance;
Bought the tix back in April before I knew my donor had been approved! My fingers are crossed I can make it for at least half the day . . . trying to last the entire day is wayyy optimistic.  But, who knows how I'll feel 1week from now?!!

Would love to go to Warped Tour, but its 1 week after Projekt Revolution!   :-\

Good luck to your son's band, ODAT!  Saw Angels and Airwaves when they opened for Taking Back Sunday a few years ago. Fabulous concert!
