Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: July 21, 2008, 06:43:35 PM »

Well, I went into the centre today so the nurses could look at my belly and maybe figure out this leaking problem. The good new is that they are 99.9% sure that I don't have a hernia, but the kind of leak that I apparently have (I can't remember the name of it) requires me to do NO PD for at least a week  :banghead; I did a three hour hemo treatment today at the centre, and when I got off I felt TERRIBLE! Through the weekend I had been under-dialyzed because of the leaking issues, then my body was just "shocked" with three hours of hemo, and as a result, my nurse had to practically carry me out of the centre to my dad's car. I'll be going into the centre at least another two or three days until my NxStage machine is shipped back to me, then in a week, I will start my exchanges again with only half a litre instead of the usual two litres, and I will also do three hemo treatments. This is just so bloody frustrating and chaotic, and it's going to be more chaotic when I'm literally going to be doing two types of dialysis at the same time. To make things worse, since I felt so bad after treatment today, I was unable to ride my motor scooter back home, and it is still at the dialysis centre. However, my nurse actually brought it inside and locked it in the medical director's office, so I don't have to worry about anyone messing with it. It sucks though because I'm going to have to take a cab to get to the centre tomorrow, and cab fare is expensive. I know these problems are just temporary, and that leaks are not that uncommon with new PD patients, but it just seems like if it's not one thing or another. At least this week I'll be getting my normal short daily NxStage treatments, instead of being stuck in the actual centre. I know things will work out, but I just needed a little  :rant;

Oh Adam, I am sorry to hear that you are having so many complications.  Hopefully everything will work out soon.

Adam, I really hope you get back on track ASAP and start feeling better.  Setbacks do suck and even more so when you feel crappy and they cost a fortune.  Glad the scooter's safe. :grouphug;

Life's a bitch and then you go on dialysis!

« Reply #7 on: July 22, 2008, 03:25:58 AM »

Adam I'm so sorry for all these problems you are having to deal with. At least one bit of good news is that it's not a hernia. The one thing I keep noticing time and time again on this forum is how brutal in centre dialysis seems to be. Why is this, do they purposely over dialyise people to compensate for the days between dialysis especially the week ends?

 :cuddle; Adam, I'm so sorry you are dealing with all this. I can't imagine doing 2 types of dialysis. I wouldn't be able to keep stuff straight in my head. Hang in there. :grouphug;
