This is me Lori , Dustin's mom

« on: July 14, 2008, 05:06:38 AM »

My Dear IHD Family,
As of yesterday at 3;25 my son Dustin went to be with Jesus. He had a massive stroke and was pronunced brain dead. This was so unexpected. We are in such shock. Dustin had a migraine again and I took him to the hospital. His blood pressure like always was the issue. He had to be moved to Indianapolis where his Dr's were. He had 4 seizures that day. When he got to the hospital he cried. He had begged me not to make him go. When he had the seizure at the first hospital it wasnt even an issue. I knew he had to. His wishes were to be a total donor. Gary and I honored that. We asked if anyway possible that they could talk to the recipient and let them know how much we loved our son and how we would love to meet and get to know the people that lifes are going to be changed. What a glorious day to get that call you have a DONOR,
God knew Dustin was sick of being tired.
There were so many kids at the hospital the nurses were in awe. They said we must have done something right because they coulld see how many lifes he had changed.
His fiance is crushed. Jasmine and Dusitn were like 2 peas in a pod. She lives with us and I told her by no means does she have to move. She said she wants to stay.
Please keep us in prayer. Going to pick out his casket today. I just have to have faith in Christ he is my savior.

Lori/Indiana RIP my prescious son Dustin

Lori and Gary and Jasmine.  What tragic news for your family and for your family here on IHD.  We all know how special Dustin was and of course how much he was loved by you.  May he rest in peace and may your hearts find peace too in time.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss.  Nothing can make up for that.

This weekend I'd been feeling very depressed and complaining to myself about the pain I endure.  After reading about Dustin, I feel I can deal with it.  I must deal with it.  There are too many people who love me here and now.  I can't give up for their sake.

Oh Lori - I am so sorry for your loss.  Dustin was special and wonderful person who is now looking over your family, your own special guardian angel.  I think it's wonderful that he wanted to be a total donor and you granted this for him.

I'm thinking of you and your family and saying prayers.   :cuddle; :grouphug;

I am so sad for all of you. I pray for your strength. My brother and his wife had their 8 yo son's organs donated. They said he was such a giving person, he would have wanted to do that. I'm not sure if they were able to know the recipient of Aron's organs. I am so sorry Lori.  :cuddle;

Dear Lori,   I am so very sorry.  And I am shocked. We all fell in love with Dustin by all the stories you would tell us about him.  This isn't the way life is suppose to be and my heart is breaking for all of you. How is Jasmine?    I wish there was someway to help a Mother's pain.    :cuddle;   I don't really know what to say, except I am sitting here crying.   We all love you and are here if you need us :grouphug;

Lori, I am so very sorry to read this, there just can't be anything in the world worse than losing a child (and I say that as one who has lost her husband, her one and only sweetheart).  I hope your faith will give you comfort and help you through this time.  Dustin will live on in all those his donation will help. My love and prayers go out to all of you.  :grouphug;

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

please know that you will be in my prayers and my thoughts be with you

Dear Lori,
I am stunned and so very sad. I always hoped Dustin would make it through all of this. He was lucky to have your help along the way.
Best wishes and hugs for you and Jasmine and the rest of your family.
I cannot stop crying. So sorry mama.

Love and sympathy to your family.  We will miss the stories of Dustin and your adventures.  It is always sad when someone so young passes away. May God hold him in his hands.

I'm so shocked and sad to read this. He's with the Lord now and forever free of pain and sorrow. There are no dialysis machines where he is now. May the Lord be with you always.
