me and my donor Joyce

« on: June 06, 2008, 04:26:56 PM »

:yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;  I feel superfantastic!  Everything went smoothly.  As karol told y'all, the kidney started working immediately.  My creat was 4.9 pre - op (Thursday am) and at 6am it was 1.9 praise God!  It is amazing how good I feel. Juan got lots of pictures that I will try to send a little later.  My doctor took pictures of my new kidney while it was still in Joyce then out of Joyce then inside me!!!  I will see how they look before I send them :) Everyone here has been great! The cafeteria is lacking bigtime compared to Juan's cooking.... but that will come soon enough. :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;

Okay, I'm getting tired so I will update more when I am not so tired.

I spoke on the phone with Donnia earlier today and she sounded great! She was very upbeat and it sounds like everything is working perfectly (except I think she said she hadn't slept since the surgery!)
Her donor already went home - a 2 1/2 hour drive - and with NO narcotics! Wow!

I hope you both have a speedy recovery!  :cuddle;

It is fast. Her donor had planned to stay a couple days in a hotel, but decided she and her family would be more comfortable at home.
 Jenna's donor was 2 days in the hospital.

Keep us posted on the creatinine level.  Drink lots of fluids and then the kidney should wake up get the creatinine down to the 0.8 to 1.3 range.

This is so great! I'm glad you're doing so well -- and your donor too. I guess your new kidney will be tough like your donor!
