With the price of food and gas going up thought this might help with the food bill. I've done this for 2 years now. The food is great and most of the time I have to buy more than 1 menu item as we are a family of 6 - give this a try.

AFM is very popular in this area. The food is very good. You need to take your own boxes to pick up the food.

My daughter, Melissa, does the Angel Food Ministries and it is great.  She told me I should try it.  Simple form to fill out. She didn't have to fill out any financial information.  Seems like a very good program.  It looks like a good amount of food for $30.  Thanks Okarol, for sharing.

Share Colorado operates a very similar program in colorado nebraska new mexico south dakota and wyoming. it's operated by catholic charities so they may also operate in other states too. it's not financially based you qualify through community service. they offer the same type of food packages. i think the current price is $25 per share which includes meat and package items and lots of fresh vegetables.

We have the Angel Food Ministries at church but I have never tried it.

I let my sister in Ohio know about this today and she immediately went online to see if there is a site near her. She found one 10 miles away and she is thrilled.   Her husband is chief of police in their small town and he has been diagnosed with liver failure after years of dealing with diabetes.  His meds are eating up their budget. My sister is on disability, so any way to stretch their money is good.     Thanks for sharing the website, Okarol.

I was at my daughter's last night for dinner.  She was showing me her Angel Food Ministries box.  I want to encourage every one to see if there is a location near you.  The food looks wonderful. This month included a Stouffers pizza and a Mrs. Smith's pumpkin pie.  They include a booklet with recipes for that months food. Melissa made homemade soup from the dried bean mix.  First time to make soup from scratch and she did a great job.  The meats looked great and she has enough for about 3 weeks worth of meals.  It was the best $30 she ever spent. She is taking me to sign up next week for the next month's order.   Melissa is having representatives come to her offices to tell her clients about the program.  Everyone needs a little help stretching their food budget.  Also, she said the pick up process was fast and easy.    Thought I would share first hand experience and encourage others to give it a try.

Are you going to try it?  I think it will help me just not having to drive around to grocery stores.  I like to plan menus anyway, so I can plan everything around that month's menu and then fill in with veggies,etc.  Every bill we have is going higher and higher.  I have to figure someway to keep within our means.   Gasoline is going to put us in the poor house!

That's a lot of food for $30. Never could have done that shopping when I lived on my own. Nowdays if I had that much food, it would last about 2 months. But what is shelf stable milk? Never heard of that,is it  just the dryed milk in a box?

No, Chris, it is liquid but processed to not be refrigerated. After opening it, it will last in the refrigerator for a couple of week.    For Melissa, it will be good for cooking (mac and cheese, etc) when she runs out of regular milk.  She says if she finds she won't use it, she will donate it to a food bank.

Does it taste the same would be my top question, otherwise wonder if more or less phosphurus/potassium. Maybe that is what they use at McDonalds for their shakes? I guess I would be more willing to try this than vegiemite.

Oh Okarol this is wonderful.  I never heard of it before.  I put in our zip code and it came back with 7 places in
Griffin.  We are going to call in the morning and order or find out when we order for June.  Thanks so much
for posting this site.  Gas and food prices are ridiculous and we have 3 men to feed.

I am placing my order this week, also.  It is nice to see the menu ahead of time so I can start planning meals around them.   My daughter is already seeing a big difference in her food budget.     Great service

I placed my order today.  It was so easy.  Walked in, they handed me a form. Filled in my name and address and then checked what I was ordering. Handed the money, got receipt and walked out!  Less than 5 minutes, including talking!!  Along with the regular order, I got a grill pack.  It includes 2-12oz T-bone steaks, 2 lbs. meaty baby back ribs, 2 lbs. thick cut pork chops and 1 lb bratwurst sausage. The grill pack was $20.    Pick up is the 28th.  I really encourage any one who can, to at least try it for one month.   No obligations, no financial requirements, no personal information, no pressure.

No, Paris, Cindy called the church  on Monday about 1:00 p.m. and the lady said they had just closed the orders.
She told Cindy they would be taking orders again on the 23 of June.  I suppose we will get the July menu and
it is not as good as June's.  We think we will have to have 2 units of the food and a special order, but it is still a
good deal.  I'll let you know when we go.

I placed next month's order today.  This time my son and family ordered too. He is a huge griller and smoker, so the grill packs are perfect for him.     The chicken tenders are wonderful. As good as any in a restaurant.  I made the pork riblets in the crockpot and they were yummy.  Grandkids have enjoyed the pizza rolls and tater tots.  Haven't grilled the steaks yet.  When my son saw how much and how good the food was last month, he was sold. So, our family is really taking advantage of a great service.   I go to the store about 1/3 the amount of time I use to.   My food costs have really gone down.  I encourage anyone to give this a try.  I still have about 8 entrees and the next order will be here in two weeks.   We all need to save anywhere we can.  Co-pays take up the most of our money!

That's correct. Anyone can participate.

The only thing you fill out is your order form.  Nothing financial.  They encourage everyone to try it.  Things we wouldn't use, go straight to a food bank.  It is a win, win situation.  My sister in Ohio is now using it.  Her husband is the Chief of Police in their town and he was a little hesitant about doing it.  When they placed their first order, half of the people they work with were there ordering!   Give it a try!
