Always dance like no one is watching!

WWW
« on: July 16, 2006, 09:16:38 AM »

I was pondering what is my all time favourite movie earlier and thought it would make a great post here. The only problem is I can't decide what my favourite is.

Firstly, there is Annie, you know the musical, red, curly haired orphan gets adopted by big fat rich guy and lives happily ever after. When I was growing up I watched this film at least twice a day, I would get up like 3hours early before school starts just to watch it.

But, Pride & Prejudice is a big winner too. Classic British, Jane Austen chic flick, (although I got Heph hooked too!) Watched the six hour series twice in a day once. Obviously, didn't do much else that day. except consume my body weight in pop corn, chocolate and fizzy pop!

Pirates of the Carribbean is on the list too. I just love this film and think it is excellently made. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow definately does it for me!

Hey, I guess I've narrowed it down to three all time greatest movies. (May think of more in the next day or so though!)

??? So, get your thinking caps on and let us all know your all time greatest movie(s)  ;)

Well, since I watch 3 movies a week, I should get paid to preview movies!  Darla's dialysis picks!   ;D

My all time favorite is "The Way We Were" with Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand.  Such a Good movie.

I also like "The Basket" with Peter Coyote and Karen Allen.

"Return to Me" with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver is a good movie.  It is about a transplant (I won't say any more)  ;)

GEEZ!  Don't get me started!

I subscribe to Netflix.com.  You go on-line pick your movies and they mail them to you, and you mail them back (Postage Free).  Again, this is probably a U.S. thing.  Check it out  www.netflix.com    I think you get a free trial.  If nothing else you can browse movies and read about them for free.  I love this.  I signed up for 2 movies.  That means I can have 2 movies in my possession at a time.  No late fees.  For $16 a month I can have 2 movies.......all month, or I can watch them the same day I get them and send them back and in 2 days I have another movie.  I have it timed where I always have a movie for dialysis.  Today I watched Eight Below.  All animal lovers need to grab a box of Kleenex and watch that movie.

Well, sometimes I screw up and then I just go to Blockbusters and get one.  It really pisses them off when they try to sell me their mail order movie plan and I say "I already have Netflix."

My favs:

Citizen Kane
Casablanca
Psycho
Apocalypse Now
Arsenic and old lace
21 grams
Traffic
Mona Lisa
Ratcatcher
Ali: fear eats the soul
L' avventura

Mulholland Drive
The Marriage of Maria Braun
Scenes from a Marriage
Tampopo
La Haine
Insomnia ( the original version from Norway )
The Third Man

I think I might be the youngest person posting in this thread so far ( correct me if I'm wrong ) ...but why am I posting the oldest movies  ???

There's also a number of black and white and foreign movies in there.

I guess I'll just admit to being a movie fanatic ( I own way too many movies for my own good )

Pulp Fiction runs Forest Gump's show...

Way cooler movie. I could listen to that movie without watching it, and it would still be amazing. The dialogue is ridiculously good.

OK, i will compromise and say Pulp Fiction is definetly in a class by itself, i do admit, it was an awesome movie,  but the feelings that Forrest Gump brought out of me,  unbelievable.  Second best to The Notebook,  ok, can you tell i am a crier...
