Des, I understand about the packing. After getting all our dialysis supplies, clothes and gifts loaded, my husband said, "We are taking more that some people own in a lifetime!"

 :rofl; :rofl;

We made it to Massachusetts in "only" 15 hours. Good trip. We saw tons of snow and many vehicles that had gone off the road during the worst of the storm. But all was clear for driving yesterday.

Carl is on the machine and I only made a couple of boo-boos setting up. Being in a different place is stressful!  :stressed;

Take care,

How is everyone doing with shopping, wrapping and baking?    :rofl;      What doesn't get done, no one will ever notice!   So, I am going to rest a little more and let my heart be filled with the Christmas spirit.      Anyone around to chat later tonight?

Trapped in the house today by the street guys pouring slurry. Had to put one car on the side street, the other on the driveway. No sign of slurry yet down the street.  So I am going to clean out the bathroom cupboards today.

Aleta - no worries - the Northeast is suppose to be a balmy 35 to 37 degrees by Christmas day.   :snowman;  You will find those temps more to your liking.   :clap;

My daughter has been lobbying me for years to move from VT to Maine.  I keep telling her I was thinking of more of a southerly move..... time will tell.

Have fun everyone.

MAINE!!! OMG!

We took a trip to Acadia in June a couple years ago and it got down into the 40's at night! Nice place to visit, but I don't think the old bones could stand it.

Ha, ha. More lobbying tonight!  :rofl; :rofl;

Chris, be careful out there tomorrow.

I bet Des is gone already.  :2thumbsup;

Everyone, enjoy this special time.

KK, we have gotten into watching Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe on Hulu during D. We don't have cable.

Some how we never got into Babylon.

Getting the machine up and running this morning. It is almost time for the grand "sticking" ceremony. Being in a different place I made several errors yesterday. Nothing like stress to give the old BP a boost! I sure hope it goes better today! Whew!

This afternoon it is off to the grocery store. Fun, fun.

I feel so bad for Carl.

Yet he is such a trooper. He is in an uncomfortable chari for dialysis, he can't do anything for himself as he is not in his "office" at home, it is 14 degrees outside and his chair is near the door, and yet he never complains (except for the cold! ha ha)

He feels bad about asking me to do things for him, but hey, I'm not the one stuck (pun intended) in the chair.

He is wrapped up in blankets and still can't get his temperature as high as 97!

YLGuy - I must admit that is a problem here in the northeast states......  We always seem to end up taking the scenic route to wherever we are headed.

I hope everyone is having a great day.  I'm off to grocery shop for Christmas dinner (roast pork, homemade applesauce).  Yummo.

Yes, I grew up in Connecticut.  My grandfather hated the highways (although the Merritt Pkwy is pretty scenic).  Once, we went to my uncle's cabin in VT with him.  He drove all back roads there.

I am so bummed! And only you guys will understand. I lost my "I Hate Dialysis" pin today. I have had it on the strap of my purse and when we were at the grocery store I realized that it was gone.  :'(

Oh, well. I guess I can buy another one!

What's past is prologue

« Reply #21346 on: December 23, 2009, 05:16:27 PM »

I thought I had this Christmas under control since my husband and I have much of the wrapping completed already and we are going really simple and informal for dinner Christmas night, then.... My brother (the sober, non-violent, mentally stable one) emailed my husband two nights ago asking him to forward a message to me. He has moved to Illinois and wants to come up to visit for nearly a week, starting on Christmas Day.  :o

I do not speak to my family, and have not seen him in over five years. He is the only one of my siblings I can stand, in fact I think he's wonderful, but I do not want any contact with that household, and I do not want them to know anything about me. Luckily I don't have an access to hide or anything, but I don't know how I am going to fake my way as a healthy person for nearly a week - I can barely do that for an hour. There is no one else in this town for him to visit - he is coming up to see us. Thankfully, he is staying at the home of a relative, so we won't have to prepare a room or anything, but the relative is off in Costa Rica so he'll be alone there.

Part of me looks forward to seeing him again - the rest of me wonders why I cannot seem to ever fully escape that awful house.

Cariad, I take it your husband was trying to be in the Christmas mood by letting your brother come visit without prior knowledge of you? I understand how you feel aboutsiblings.

Guess it would be to late to teach the kids to be quiet and for husband not to answerthe door when he arrives?  :sarcasm; :shy;

Hope you make it through the visit Cariad.
