Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009
Knee Surgery 2010
2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog
Guide Dog Training begins July 2, 2012 in NY
Guide Dog by end of July 2012
Next eye surgery late 2012 or 2013 if I feel like it

Chris, when I was a teen there was a mystery guy name Kilroy.  Mysterious messages were always appearing that read "Kilroy was here!"  Am I the only person who remembers Kilroy?

Oh, Aleta, now that you describe it, I think I know the Kilroy drawing - you still see them today occasionally. I always assumed those were some form of gang graffiti.... I will have to look up the origins and see if it was what I was picturing.

It started during WWII.  Some say it was dock workers that started it on ships being sent to war. Some say the foot soldiers got tired of the "fly boys" saying they went everywhere, so the infantry started putting the phrase every place they went to.    "Kilroy was here" has been written in odd places and has many sources. I remember my Dad talking about it when I was a kid.   Google the phrase--you will find lots of info.

The meeting with the transplant surgeon went very well.Not having any family out here I was worried I would not have enough support people.I was overwhelmed with how many people showed up for support.There were 22! Another 25 sent emails saying that they could not be at the meeting but would help out if and when I get a transplant. Some people never get a chance to know they are cared about.I am a pretty lucky guy.

I have to pop in and say hi, just because it it 1:30 and sleep is not my friend tonight.  I have tried--heating pad, Ambien, calming music, no music, etc----after 3 hours, I am giving up.  I turned on the tv, got out the computer and will just sit here until I fall over.    :rofl;

I will win for a little while, until Des realizes someone has posted and she wins again! I don't mind losing to Des--she is a sweet lady   :cuddle;

Morning IHD - first winter storm of the year hitting today as I type.  I'm lucky I could take the bus to work - don't want anyone else crashing into my car.

YLguy - happy that the meeting with the surgeon went well.  Good luck as you travel down the transplant path.

Paris - ambien works wonders for me - so sorry it didn't work wonders for you last night.

Thanks Slywalker.  Ambien usually does the trick. I think my mind just wouldn't shut off last night.  Tonight will be better!

It is 68 and sunny today!  Everyone else is having snow. I would like a little, but I am not really complaining.   I feel bad for those who can't get to the store or especially dialysis.  Be careful out there!
