Thanks, Aleta. I would totally take you up on that offer, too.

I'm also relieved this will be over before we know it. Tonight did not go well - pain, swearing, crying. I joked to Gwyn afterward that the whole thing made me want to phone my parents up and blurt out "I told you I wasn't meant to be a doctor!" Gwyn was too nice about it all - he apologized for swearing when the shot was hurting him. Who does that? :waiting;

I think I know what I did wrong - I kept pinching the skin after I got the needle in when we are actually supposed to let go. :oops; Hopefully when I do it next time it will go better. Gwyn did experience that euphoria again, laughing hysterically through the pain about a half hour later. That was cool! :2thumbsup;

I'll come give the shots if I can have some too! I could use some euphoria!  :rofl; :rofl;

Cariad to bad they did not teach you how to give injections. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes, they kept teaching us how to give injections with an orange at the time (not the best model for skin) and they taught my mom how to draw and give injections.

The injections went well this morning. Gwyn said he couldn't even feel the second one. I still hate this and still know I am the most pathetic wimp in the ESRD universe, but it was a good morning. My GP cannot inject us this afternoon because he is overbooked, but he can tomorrow morning, so we will do one more shot today and then we should have the pros taking over for the last three rounds. Such a relief.

You two are doing great with the injections.   :2thumbsup;   It is like reading a documentary and it is good you are sharing all the steps with us.  It will be a great help to the next person who faces something like this.   I am anxious to see how the rest of this journey goes.   Every new study or trial gives us all hope.   I think you are the winner today!

They were backed up when I got to dialysis this morning.  The cart with all the supplies is right in front of my chair so I got my chair all set up and ready to go.  I then took my temp and my standing and sitting BP.,  When the tech finally made it over to me he was nicely surprised that all I needed was to be cannulated.  He jokingly asked if I wanted to do that too.  I said that I did.  Nailed it.  I got a flash first stick both sides.  The social worker came by and asked if I was looking for home HD as nobody in that center self cannulates.  I said that I did not that I just preferred to do it myself from now on.  It was better doing it myself.

Great Job Marc, that is something I could never do with those big needles. To chicken to do that and will let others do it if and when I go back on dialysis.

Good morning IHD!    I think today is the day for three winners----Marc, Cariad, and Tyefly.  I am just amazed at how much control they have taken of their treatments.  You each are showing others what is possible.  What marvelous attitudes you all have.  I don't think I am as brave as you three are.      :bow;

Genesis of the artificial kidney has been sent on to girliekick.  It took so long because my nephrologist borrowed it when I was done.  Please contact her if you would like the book next.  It is VERY interesting.  What a great idea Nurse Wratchet had.

     Good afternoon, or whatever it is where you are, everyone  :waving;

     Been sick with the flu since 3:46 (digital clocks are nice.. :rofl; :rofl; they let you know when you have to make that rush  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;) he morning of the 14th.  Great way to spend Valentines day  :sarcasm;  Felt awful.  Had solid food, and it stayed down  :bandance; :bandance;, last night.  Sometimes you just miss things.  I was quarentined to the bedroom (no computer) till this morning. Didn't feel like "traveling" anyway.  ::)  :rofl; :rofl;   I'm at dialysis, and got a touch screen computer that works.  After my fun weekend only gained 1.3 kg. Or, I should say only retained that much.

      Marc I hope you are doing well, no high temps.   :clap; :clap; on the self canulation.

      Cariad hope all continues to go well for you both in the trial.   :bestwishes;

      Loonytuns, you ARE one super woman.  :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;

      Dan, I'm familiar with Jacque Barel  and the song.  Don't run any red lights. Don't even go to the red light district. :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

      Got to schedule surgery tomorrow (call and get a date) on my right ankle "boo-boo".  I'm looking forward to that.  :sarcasm;
Was told they have to take so much surrounding tissue out that it will mean a few days in the hospital.  There goes my streak  :(

       As always stop here first, so off to the threads I go.......... have a great day.

FC, will you have the surgery down there, or by any chance, in Raleigh?   Sorry about the flu.  No fun.

I had 3 grands over for the day yesterday. One had been sick the night before. Then the rest of the family came over for pizza and day after Valentines party. 13 of us for dinner. Then 5 grands spent the night.  The fun began around 11. 12 yr old started vomiting. Red fruit punch all over cream carpeting.  Then, the 6 yr old started. He got as far as the upholstered chair, and promptly covered the entire chair more than once.  What a night!  My daughters were still both at the house, and they started cleaning and disinfecting everything.  Now the carpet and chair need professional cleaning.  Not the best sleepover we have ever had.  I can almost see the germs floating in my house!   But, we had a good time during the day!!      Today Beth and I took two of the non-sick ones to see The Princess and the Frog.  Really cute show.  Is it too early to put my pajamas on and go to bed?    :rofl;   I am one worn out Nana!

Grandchildren are the reward for living through raising your own kids!   I am very fortunate that they enjoy spending time at our house and we can do so much together. I have one closet full of crafts and projects and they can go into it anytime.  (taught 4 and 5 yr olds for 18 years).  I didn't grow up living near my grandmother, but every day spent with her was special.   Being Nana is the best job I have ever had.    I am trying to convince my kids that I would love to have some more babies around   :2thumbsup;    They say 9 is enough for now.   :rofl;    (after last night, they may be right!!!!)       :puke;   :puke;   I saw way too much of that last night!
