Our first New's Year's together - A new beginning

« Reply #21576 on: January 08, 2010, 04:12:39 AM »

We had a dusting of snow in Atlanta.  It looks pretty, but the roads are really icy and there was a 27 car pileup on one of the interstates.  I'm working from home today (I love to do that, still in my pj's) so I don't have to venture out.  <gets up to make another cup of coffee and decide what to make for breakfast>  Sure is cold out though.

My two beautifull granddaughters

« Reply #21577 on: January 08, 2010, 04:36:22 AM »

I'm glad I called off school. One of my teachers said it took her 45 minutes to go 5 miles getting home yesterday. It is the cold that is the problem. There is black ice everywhere. I rarely close the school, but I have to be able to get there and I did not want to get out in this. Plus it is supposed to continue flurrying today.

One of my students who lives in the mountains did not make it in yesterday. This weather is just so unlike what we are used to around here.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day.

Nothing here!  Not one little snow flake!  Just a little drizzle.  We are so disappointed.  The schools were on a two hour delay, so the kids were happy.

I will take over winning for now   :2thumbsup;

Paris,  we had the two hour delay too.  Made my wife happy, she is a teacher.   :waving; fellow North Carolinian.  You can still win, just had to drop in and say hello.

My turn again.  :cheer:

 I wish we had gotten more snow because there isn't much for the kids to play in. Terribly cold, too. I enjoyed watching a hawk sit in a tree in my back yard preening itself and waiting for little critters. Beautiful.

Off to dialysis.  My daughter is going ice skating tonight with her high school.  I joked with her that I felt like skating tonight.  She did not think it was funny at all.

« Reply #21584 on: January 08, 2010, 09:05:45 AM »

Sooooo sleepy. I am determined to get back on a decent sleep schedule so I dragged myself out of bed at 7AM, even though insomnia has been keeping me up past 2AM each night. I made iced citron oolong tea for the kids this morning. They both are having problems with eczema from the cold, dry air. I heard on NPR that oolong tea is a bit of a miracle cure for this condition. They hated it and refused to drink it (well, the older one choked it down). I'll try adding more sugar tomorrow.

Plenty of snow up here.

cariad,  what do kids know  :rofl;  oolong tea is very good.   I am a tea drinker, never liked coffee.  So here's a  :beer1; (pretend it is tea, ok?)  to you.    Also, hope the insomnia improves.  I wake up at 2 am and can't go back to sleep till 4 am most nights.  So, know how you feel.

 :rofl; Thanks for the suggestion, Hanify. If I could reasonably string two words together right now, I'd take you up on it.

Rob, if it weren't for iced Trader Joes Mango Tea, I would be a near-perfect dialysis patient because I'd hardly drink anything at all. I tried a bit of the oolong (sans sugar) and it is divine - now I don't know whether I should care if the kids won't drink it.  :rofl; I'm raising a glass of tea to both of us getting a good night's sleep tonight.  :beer1;

My center says I can have coffee as long as it's decaf. The center tells it's patients not to drink any caffienated products due to raise in blood pressure and something else I am forgetting, but mentioned before in another thread. Seems my center is the only one who has tx patients doing that. If I switch now, I'd really have a jittery problems.

What is Tejava?

I gave up alcohol, good rich food, and sex.  I'm not giving up Coffee.

And get serious, coffee isn't good for anyone (especially people with a heart).
