Well found out about guide dog today and I do not qualify yet by just a small percentage, so that was bad news when I cam home from getting labs done. Then later in the day I find out my MRI of my knee comes back and doc wants me to see orthopedics s soon as posible. The found four things wrong besides another miniscus tare.

Can handle knee problem, but had my hopes for getting a dog to help get around the city. I do have 2 years to be able to reapply by just having the doctor submit a vision field exam form again.. :(

Other option is try to find another guide dog agency, but each is run differently and cost can be astounding. I haven't loked for any locations in Illinois.

I'm not sure whether I think it's a shame or not - given that 'not' means your sight is better than their cut off point.  But I know you were looking forward to it - don't give up hope.

Hanify, each center is different on qualifications. One center I had to be totally blind. But now I'm thinking I should have went to my low vision doctor and paid an exam fee to fill out the form hat included all the devices I have to see and use to get around and to go into detail about my right eye on how I can't see. I will save money and go there later I am thinking, especially when I am denied by just a small percentage point in the vision field exam (can't help but look for the light dots and not just look straight)

There is no appeal process, just need vision to get worse for them. I want to stay with this organization so I will just get rechecked later this year by going to my low vision doctor this time and pay the big bucks.

Other centers are not as helpful with lodging and transportation issues.Some of the guide dg programs I found online require you to be a resident of that state (California and New Jersey  so far).

I will have to remember to email my low vision center or another center to see if they know more of other places to look at.

Good morning everyone!

Still cold as blazes here in Tennessee. I think we snagged the cold weather on our bumper as we drove away from Massachusetts over the holidays!  :rofl;

I'll be back in my own classroom today AND, we have music today. I love our music teacher and it lifts my heart when she is here. We go back many years (same vintage so to speak) and we have a special bond.

I've been trying to tell you all for ages now that Right is Wrong.

But then, if you are going in reverse is the right side of the road really the left side or....?

Damn, that "other" thread really got me depressed.  I have a lot of work to do on that today.  Better pack computers, etc. to take to Dialysis.
