What actual day is Thanksgiving?

Apparently for Paris - Thanksgiving is the next four out of five days.......

Wow, 6 hr nap! That sure hit the spot. Can sleeping for 6 hrs be considered a nap?  lol... Oh well, I'm ready for a night out now.

Our holiday week schedule:  Thursday, dinner at our house (Beth is making pork loin with apple brandy sauce)
                                        Friday, dinner at Melissa's  (daughter) house for her husbands birthday
                                        Saturday, dinner at Todd's house for his wife, Rebecca and his daughter Eliza's birthdays. 
                                        Sunday---finally! We celebrate Thanksgiving with the entire family with all our traditional favorites.   Todd 
                                                 smokes  a  turkey, I roast one, someone makes a ham, and so on and so on!!   With 19 in the immediate
                                                family   it is  hard to find a day that everyone is off.  So we will appreciate and be thankful for our day
                                                 together.

All that just to say  "I WIN"!!

Nope and did that at docs today too. Another doc appointment tomorrow late in the city that's gonna suck because it's at 4 pm. never had a doc appointment at night, but have to get a 12:30 pm train to get there because the next train in gets me to my appointment late. No idea what I'm going to do to waste a couple hours downtown, but gonna be stressful getting home and it's suppose to rain. Hopefuly I have nothing to ask them like todays docs.

Only question I came up with is what are the future winning lotto numbers for the mega millions game. I need a chocolate factory and a peanut butter kisses (taffy) factory.

I did think of one, but have to call doc when they open and give a fax number so I can go back to p.t. in December.

Not ready for this long day and have to go back to Chicago tomorrow early.. Think I have a doc appointment on Friday too!

My favorite day of the week is TUESDAY!

It is always me best teaching day.  Two of my kids could not get enough math today. In fact, a fifth grader wanted to stay inside to finish up some long division that he was working on! I love this job.

Did you tell that child that they won't have any friends if they carry on like that, and to get outside and play like a normal child - ha a ha ha.

I had a lovely day too yesterday.  Am making my choir sing Ave Verum (keep in mind most of them have never even heard of Latin, let along sung it) and it's a bit of a big ask of primary school children - 3 part harmony.  Anyway, a couple of them stayed after we'd finished and I got them to quickly learn the harmonies and we sang it again.  They were so excited at how good it sounded, and were all singing 'Ave, ave, verum corpus ...' in the playground on the way back to class.  So funny when you consider my school is what is called a 'decile 1' school - the deciles indicate the socioeconomic area the school is in.  Decile 1 is the lowest, decile 10 is the highest (read richest).

The cheesecake is done.  My son is now making the apple pie.  Tomorrow, off to Ventura right after dialysis.  Thanksgiving by the ocean this year.

Sounds lovely, Marc. We are taking off for Big South Fork Recreational Area Friday AM. Dialysis machine will go with us.

I understand perfectly, Bern. Kids really, really like to learn new things.

And no, my kid is usually outside, but he was on a quest and did not want to quit.

My center has a chair for me on Saturday afternoon so I can stay an extra night and not have to rush home.

The boys are having chicken on Thanksgiving. We received a turkey from our meat CSA in October, but it was just too big to keep in our freezer for that long, so Gwyn and the kids ate it a while ago. I have never liked Thanksgiving, and with me being vegetarian and Gwyn being British, I don't know why we even bother. I guess it's as good an excuse as any to open a fancy bottle of wine and drag out the fine china. :-)

What browser do you use, Cariad? It took a while for me to get them on Flock (a Firefox derivative). I had them on Safari earlier.

I'm using Internet Explorer 8. Surely I'm not the only one? I seem to be the only one without smilies, though. Perhaps I should switch. Gwyn is here, claiming that a switch is easy, so I am passing the "confuser" off to him and Firefox, here we come....

That's good cariad, I'm thinking something got messed up on IE8 and may have t be uninstalled and reinstalled, or just downloaded  to fix. That is one therory I have so far.

I came home in the dark and in rain that turned into a very bad situation. Even though it was a road I normally took, it was too dark (no street lights in that area), had no cars to follow, and I ended up going down the wrong lane, but realized it before it was to late a. There was on coming cars so I had to turn around quick, but had trouble seeing the road markings and waited for someone to pass me so I can follow them. I tried to turn around, but couldn't. I ended up turning down a street following a car hoping they would go to the major intersection. They didn't and turned off. I slowly made it to a intersection that had a Walgreens and pulled in the parking lot. I had no idea where I was, I haven't driven down that road in a long time and never at night. Tried calling parents several times and no one was picking up, called a couple people and no replies. I was screwed. After a half hour of waiting my parents caled and they had to find their way to find me with the landmarks given and the road I gave. I didn't know the intersection, couldn't see the road sign and the Walgreens reciept didn't say.  has been a very scarey and stressful night of driving. Came home, had soup, and fell asleep for 4 hours.
