What's past is prologue

« Reply #19750 on: September 17, 2009, 08:04:04 AM »

I heard tonight on the local news. That only certain people will get the H1N1 vacine.  I was sure surprised.

   Everyone 24 and under will get it
       And 25 to 64 will get it if you have a medical condition. But no one 65 and old will not get the shot.

 I can't believe that the elderly can not get it.

   Looks like rationing to me.   I guess they are hoping that all the older people will get sick and die to help the Medicare out and help the health reform.

      That is the biggest. BS. I have heard so far.  Even bigger that that stimulus package for the banks.

If we are going to turn this into a political thread, can you at least provide links? I am really sick of the rumors and misinformation around here. http://www.sedol.k12.il.us/pdfs/Questions_AnswersAboutH1N1Vacine.pdf

Hanify explained the reasoning very well. People 65 and older can get the shot, they will just not be prioritized. If you are 65 and older and really, really, wanted to get it, I am sure your doctor could find a reason for you to be included. I happen to think making pregnant women a priority is smart. They are, after all, the ones most likely to die from this.

Good morning.

Remember. They are saying they think that older people may have immunity. But there is no guarantee.   Don't you think that to be safe everyone should get the vaccine.  Don't older people have reduced immune systems.   Why do they want them to just get reg flu shots, wouldn't they have immunity to those strains.   Looks like they are rationing

Getting ready for tonight's parent/student community meeting. The kids come too and help teach the parents about our school. So much fun.

It is a cooler (70's), rainy day here and I am loving it. Love having the windows open and not hearing the air conditioner runner nonstop!   Fall starts in a few days--- I love fall   :2thumbsup;

My husband is on the way home to take the older child to soccer practice. I get to pick up the three year old from preschool, who has been on a tear all week. He has started screaming every morning that he does not want to go to school, refusing to nap, refusing to do what the teachers say (he lost gym privileges yesterday because he would not put his book back on the shelf). Preschool teachers do not get paid anywhere near enough.

What a fun conversation his teacher and I will have at pickup time!  :sarcasm;

A quick dinner and soon back to school.

We have to prime  a new PAK for our PureFlow before leaving, though.

Rainy here, too Paris and cooling off. I like Fall, but I'm going to miss my pool.  :P

I miss your pool too Aleta.  Lol.
And I'm not suggesting that it's not absolutely terrible than anyone would die from swine flu, I'm just saying it's no more likely to kill you than any other flu is.  That means you still have to be careful, but don't worry too much.

Cariad,
I used to have a hard time dropping my daughter off to day care until I started doing a song with her every morning.  She would stand in the window inside and I would stand outside and we would sing:

Skinnamarink kidink kidink, skinnamarink ki do. I love you.
Skinnamarink kidink kidink, skinnamarink ki do. I love you.
I love you in the morning and in the afternoon.
I love you in the evening underneath the moon.
Skinnamarink kidink kidink, skinnamarink ki do. I love you.
Skinnamarink kidink kidink, skinnamarink ki do. I love you.

Doing hand motions with the song.  Every single day.  I felt a little funny standing outside the daycare waving my arms around and singing but it sure helped her with her separation anxiety.

Pretty much I tried to make a game or song for getting ready for school, brushing teeth, anything that was an issue... My favorite was when they are really little and you need to take their shirt off.  You yell touchdown and they throw their arms in the air.

Marc, that is really sweet.  :guitar: Thank you for the suggestions, we (husband and I) really need to incorporate ways to make these everyday things more fun. My husband would rather give a kidney than sing, but I have absolutely no shame and would warble in the middle of the intersection if it would get the three year old to calm down.  ;D

One of his head teachers suggested today that the time of year may be setting him off - older kids have moved up to a new classroom, and younger kids are coming in. My son moved up about 4 weeks before his peers (because we thought I was having a transplant in Sept) so he feels like he owns the place, and now his "juniors" are coming in and playing with all of "his" toys. I'm sure it makes perfect sense inside a three-year-old mind.  :P

I am sure it is just a phase.  He will move onto a new phase for better or dare I say...worse.  It will pass.  Starting April of 2011 my kids will be 19, 17 and 13.  THREE teenagers!  I will be wishing that the teacher called because they would not nap.  Probably the opposite...They would not wake up for class.
