I told you about tamales with my friend and his wife... well, she is a nutrionist and she put some other than lard.  I don't recall what it was but my friend caught her out of the room and he snuck in a bunch of lard...

I have tried cutting down the manteca but it just isn't as good. And I figure I don't make them all that often, so I am gonna do it right when I do. 

You don't know what she puts in it?  I want to know. I can't think of anything else I can add to do the same thing.

I'll ask Sammy this weekend what it was.  I know that he doesn't like it.  Usuallly we drive to his relatives near Brownsville to get tamales... or to San Antonio.  There a place there that makes really, really good ones.  Problem is theyy sell out so fast and won't take order.  You have to be there in line.

Manda, one year Sammy brought me tamales from his Aunt in Brownsville.  He didn't tell me they had not been steamed yet.  I nukes a couple and they were awful.  Then he told  me.

Taking a moment to check in on everyone.  Still running a temperature.  Beth isn't letting me do much today (she is so sweet) so I am resting and napping.   It will be good when the Ohio relatives arrive--lots of support and love.    I would have so much more fun if I was sitting around with all of you eating Manda's tamales.   :2thumbsup;     Take care of each other until I am back. I'd rather just stay here and play all day   :yahoo;     

Anyone need the address for Benson, North Carolina??  Please come and make this a real event!!
