Has anyone got their rebate check and what do you plan on doing with it?

I hope I get mine soon.
I'm hoping I will have enough with it and my tax refund together to get a new garage door.  Need one badly.
If any $ should happen to be left I need a new storm door too.

We haven't gotten ours, and Marvin went to some internet site and it said ours wouldn't be mailed until July!   :Kit n Stik;  I want it now!   We're going to spend ours on a reception for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary!

UPDATE -- Marvin just told me that we got our federal income tax refund check today!  :yahoo;  The State of North Carolina is supposed to be sending us a tax refund check, too!  Let's see...I need a new tv in the den, Hop-Sing needs some more toys (he doesn't have enough -- only 100), Marvin wants a new weed-eater, I want new blinds for my bedroom windows...I could go on and on and on.

i don't get a tax refund because i don't pay taxes (gee, how did that happen, and it's legal too. i don't even have to file. believe me i really wish i did.)  however the rebate checks (for those who filed on line and have direct deposit) are supposed to start going in today. so far my account is still anemic.  mine is going into savings so we can move in july. (wish i could spend it, i'd probably blow it all at sam's club - sad but true)

I believe we should get ours in July.  My hubby and I have decided to give it as a gift to our daughter during her going away to college party.  We are planning a Luau in August.

Between that and our rebate from taxes, we're getting bookcases for our son's bedroom and our office and taking a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando in Florida.

I read in our country paper, The Conroe Courier, to spend the money at garage sales and the money would truly go back to Americans..
just read it but do not agree    (unless we have a big garage sale)

You could have qualified for $300 even if you don't pay for taxes, by filing them this year.

We bought a new truck and put the downpayment on my points credit card, so we are paying that off with our rebate check.

thegrammalady, it's not too late to file and get $300. IRS has a Form 1040A for low income filers that normally don't have to file. Go to the IRS website and I believe you can file through them directly.  :cuddle; $300 is $300 and every little bit helps.

i reread what i wrote and decided it didn't really mean what i wanted it to. filed for my rebate last month, just watching my accounting waiting for it to land. they started funding on line direct deposits yesterday. so far nothing.

If you go to the IRS site, this page-- http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=181972,00.html --will tell you exactly what day you will get it.  If you got direct deposit for your regular tax refund, they started direct depositing on the 28th. The day you get your money deposited into your account depends on what your social security number is. If your tax refund was mailed, they aren't doing that for a few months.

We're getting ours Friday. We plan on paying off some of our credit card debt from our wedding with our money.

When I filed in Feb, the IRS website said I couldn't do it electronically since I was only getting Social Security Disability. So I mailed it in. Even though I don't have to file, I have had to do it each year for financial aid reasons for college. I use to go to H&R Block to have it done, but the prices have gotten ridiculous and I found a mistake when I prepared mine myself this year. The mistake didn't effect the tax outcome, but bugs the crap out of me that they did it wrong. Should have paid more attention last year. No idea what to do with money yet, but would hae to put it all into gas. Maybe by the time I get it, it will be time for next years IHD meting  :rofl; :rofl;

I got a letter that I would be getting a letter on how to file, but never did get the letter. On the IRS website it also said to watch the mail for the letter, but I did not want to procrastinate in filing for financial aid for my college courses. Didn't know which forms to fill out, so I went by what H&R Block used and filled out a 1040. The 1040EZ didn't seem to fit when I filled that out, bu never saw the 1040A when I picked up forms at the local library. Wish I got tat letter though. Seems I might have to wait till July as mentioned above instead of May. Not like I was releying on it anyway.

According to IRS.gov, I'm supposed to receive mine on Friday.  I have narrowed it down to just a few items I will want to put it toward:

1) A new MacBook.  I don't have my own personal computer so I have to come into work to anything online.  Thus, I'm always here.

2) A new 150cc scooter. I can't see my budget continuing to afford gas with all my Dialysis related expenses.  Plus, one of my co-workers let me ride hers and it was awesome.  Plus, I deserve something cool after surviving four years of Dialysis (anniversary: May 16th)

3) Put it towards the remainder of my student loan, which stands now @ $2800.  After it's paid off, I'm debt free (until I end up back in the hospital)

4) Blow it on women and booze.

Those are tough choice Stacy...intellect says get out of debt...practicality says get the IMac...and the ol' loins say get some women!
We spent ours in advance on a 42inch flat screen TV...since i have to spend 4 hours a day.5 days a week in the family room, we decided to get something really nice to help spend the time.
