Topmost to Trickiest Candy Choices for Dialysis Patients

Dialysis patients snack on candy and other convenience items. Candy is a quick energy source for the hypermetabolic dialysis patient on a tight schedule of 4-plus hours for 3 sessions a week. With renal replacement therapy, medical appointments, and travel time to and from the center/clinic, meal times are interrupted for therapies and snacking helps meet caloric requirements. Patients on peritoneal dialysis may be educated to incorporate snacks along with smaller meals to better manage abdominal discomfort and fullness.
