Here is the latest news.
Hi all,
Mark had a new cast put on yesterday. 2 weeks with the old one. This new cast is a lot lighter in weight. It is even a dark blue color. He had a choice of colors. He did not want hot pink. He figures he will have this cast on for 2 weeks and then it will be shed. Next comes the prosthesis to be fitted.
He was able to go home today, just during the day, to meet with the rehab person to figure out what aides he will need to maneuver around the house when he is let go from the rehab center.
The doctor did tell Mark that he could possibly go home in a week if he is up to it and the house is ready for him. Ramp has to be built, walking aides are available, etc.
Mark has a wonderful disposition and seems up to the challenges that lie ahead.

I am glad he is doing well and may be home soon.
I am jealous tho. It took me from Nov. to April to get fitted because I healed so slowly.
I better get a move on or he'll pass me up.

I spoke to Boxman tonight and he is doing really well! He says the lightweight cast is still hard to sleep with, but better than the first one. He's been off pain meds except he occasionally takes something when he's had a tough physical therapy session, but in general he's feeling good. He has a motorized chair that had been his mom's so he's able to get out a bit. He and some friends figured out how he could get across the railroad tracks without getting stuck, so he can actually make it to Starbucks and some other shops nearby. He said it looks like he will be able to go home next Friday. He's had some ramps installed and it sounds like his home will be ready for him. He said he has received cards from some of our members, with some "contraband" and candy and even greetings from Australia. He is very grateful and wanted to let everyone know he hopes to be back online soon, he misses everyone and is ready to get back to moderating (yay!)

I've been thinking about Boxman a lot lately. I wasn't able to go get him a card but he has been in my prayers and I can't wait to see him posting again. You take care Boxman.

Hi all I made it back home today. Man it feels good to be home. I am getting around with manual and electric wheel chairs and a walker. I still have a cast on the leg but it comes off Tuesday of next week. Depending on how the leg is healing will determine the next step. I received all your cards and gifts. It means a whole lot to me that you all care so much. The cards and gifts I got from Australia.Canada and the UK where a hit with all the nurses aides. They couldn't believe that I knew all you guys. Oh boy Boxman, I'm sure glad you are home. I hope my card got to you before you left the hospital.
I know this has been a rough time for you, but to hear you tell it, it was a piece of cake.
You got lots of courage, my boy, and my prayers are with you.
