Greetings to all!  As a new member, I was asked to introduce myself, so here I am!  My primary interest in joining the site was because I have several relatives with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).  I am anxious to gain information about not only their disease process but also about the various renal replacement therapies out there.  I am very impressed with the knowledge of the members of this site and think this will be a very valuable resource.  Information gained from the perspective of the patients and caregivers who make up a great deal of the members of this site is invaluable.  It is one thing to get information from professionals in the renal field; it is quite another to get it directly from those who are actually experiencing the ups and downs of the various stages of renal failure.   I look forward to learning and sharing with all of you.  Thank you for having me!

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017

I am getting a white professional jacket! I have PKD, 2 daughters with it, a son has it maybe ,50/50 chance.
PKD sucks big time but this website is a God send..... You get a laugh everytime you read this site.
We have some real comedians out there. We tell it from the heart....You will love this site.
post any question    ----    nothing is off limits to us   ----  well, maybe a few things but you would not ask those kinds of questions--- :rofl;
