Tomorrow morning (Weds.) I'm going to the prosthesist and if all goes well will get
a temporary leg.  While that is exciting, it is also frighteneing.  I have not had 2 shoes
or socks on for so long and I have not stood up on 2 ft for ages.
I hope I don't lose balance and topple over.  Tomorrow I will walk with rails
on each side of me.   I sure hope it goes well.  Hope it won't be long til
I get the permanent leg.

Hurray!  Now take it slow. Remember it took time to learn how to walk as a child, now take your time now.

Good Luck tomorrow. Just be upfront with them on your fear of falling, but I'm sure they will be prepared. Atleast that is what we are being taught in my orthotics and prosthetics class. Think there is an old saying that the first step is always the hardest and you are taking that one tomorrow.
Good Luck

Well, the prosthesist said today went really well.
I walaked the rails 3 times with a break between each time.
I was surprised how tired my good leg got because it hasn't been used for quite a while.
It was strangely different but good to be standing and walking.
He said many people the first day only stand and shift their weight back and forth from leg to leg.
He was real pleased.
He said when I sit like watching tv to put it on and leave it on for an hour
then check for redness, etc. and when walking only do 10 mins. then take
it off and check for redness.  If there are any red spots that don't go away soon to call him and he will see me and make adjustments.
gradually and slowly add time.
He said I will do fine.  I hope so.
At first it will be hard to determine how many socks to wear with it for a good fit.
He told me to go ahead and set up therapy and in a couple of weeks he will
probably order the permanent leg.
I felt nervous on the way but I kept telling myself I can do all things through Christ.
Thank you all for your wonderful words sof encouragemnt and good thoughts.
I appreciate you all so much.  I felt like you were right there with me pulling for me.
