Remember when the big crime at school was running in the halls or chewing gum?
Oh for the good ole days.
I remember those phone numbers Bill.  When I grew up we had a
phone number that started with Hickory.
Do you remember when pot was a pan?

My mom has had the same phone number for 54 years, but now it's all numbers. When I was a kid I thought we were so special because the prefix 347 stood for Diamond 7!

We had a party line. That meant more than one neighbor shared the same phone line and could listen in. We also had three TV stations. An NBC, CBS and PBS.

Hey, remember when we tried not to step on a crack (to protect our mother's backs) ?

When I picked my son up from school the other day, he and a few other boys were actually doing that! I was so glad they still do it!

Remember when the only time you could see cartoons on TV was Saturday mornings and the only time you got to play video games was by paying a quarter at the pizza place?

You Aussie girls should post pictures. The thread could be "See the Girls From Down Under in Thongs!". That would get a few guys wondering! :rofl;

We played outside as children, it would be nice if kids today could do the same. We'd be out for hours on end - my sister, me, our dalmatian, a bike and a skateboard. I don't think our parents knew exactly where we were half the time, but they DID know we were within the vicinity of the block that our house was on (we wouldn't dare sneak away - never even occurred to us actually).

Remember when government wasn't so into legislating common sense? (Or maybe people just weren't so stupid...that's probably it)

So true, the baby boomers will be the last generation to know that freedom, what caused everyone after us to have to suffer. Pick any thing a child/teenager wants or needs to do and someone has legislated a law... ::) Boxman

I agree. I remember one day one of my daughters came home from school and said a boy kissed her. We should have sued. She was 5.

We used the run the hills behind and in front of our house in Escondido.  We lived about a mile under the Bear rock out there. Right above the country Club golf course.  When Mom wanted us she would send the dog out for us.

I think she is fine. She's getting straight "A's". If she turns out to be like Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan I will be sure to discuss the traumatic events of her youth with Dr. Phil while we are on Oprah.  :rofl; :rofl;

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #45 on: April 21, 2008, 04:54:05 PM »

Rob and I were driving home from dinner with our son tonight.  He was planning on going outside when we got home to play.  I said I remember when that's all we did was play outside, we never went in the house unless we had to.  I also said the internet wasn't around back then and he was shocked.  I said we didn't have these elaborate video game systems either, Atari was just coming out when I was 12 or so.  He wondered what we did.  I said we played outside in the summer and played games, read or watched a little bit of tv in the winter.  I said we only had 1 tv and again he was shocked.  I told him we didn't have to worry about strangers as much, everybody looked out for each other.  He thought for a bit and then said he wished it was like that now.  I said you have no idea how much I wsh that too!

Thong underwear and swimwear is a style characterized by a thin strip of material along the center of the garment's rear designed to sit between the wearer's buttocks cheeks connecting the front or pouch to the waistband behind the wearer.[1] Thongs come in a variety of styles depending on the thickness, material, or type of this rear portion of fabric and are available for both men and women throughout the world. Thongs are similar to g-strings, the main difference being that thongs have more material between the legs and back whereas a g-string has less, usually an actual "string" of material. Retailer FreshPair defines thong as "An underwear style for both men and women with a thin fabric back that rests between the buttocks" whereas a g-string is "A panty with a very thin (string-like) band of fabric in the back.  ??? I don't know what you all are talking about. >:D

that type of swim suit was once described to me as a "suitless bathing strap" but we were originally talking about summer shoes held on the foot with a piece that went between the toes. but then i always called them "flip flops"
