I drove truck for around 8-9 years OTR and when I was in training and we had our CB talk, a good buddy was a compliment to another driver. Now a good buddy is slang for aknowledging a gay man.   Times have changed.

wow   twirling is my love and both my daughters were not interested, not as popular as it used to be
          have her learn at least two batons and she will always have an edge on the competition
          and lighted batons are good for talent shows
          fire baton also but they are better for outside

I had three twirling last year. My older one  (17) quit. My twelve year old is awesome. Her group is competing in Wildwood New Jersey again this year. I can't go. I have first communion, confirmation and prom in the same weekend. I'll post the link for pictures when I find out what it is. She does two baton. She also has a fish tail solo and another solo. My 7 year old's group is too darn cute. I did the props for their show. It is Beauty and the Beast. I also painted the back drops for the older gorls. I love it all!

Romona   do you twirl ?  it helped get me a college degree    I still love to get my batons out    I always thought fish tails were hard.
              we rarely have twirlers at any of our football games    we have flag teams but it is not like real twirling    I still have my fire batons.
              Stasie was more interested in basketball, Missy was more interested in drill team and dancing  If my son would have shown any interest
              in twirling my husband, the coach, would have sh*t.....I taught twirling as part of my job for years and loved every minute of it.
              I was teaching in a junior high... It was exciting. I'd love to see photos and I would extremely love to see Beauty and the Beast.
              Do you have any male twirlers and they are not gay.....Have you seen the twirlers on the internet. They show twirlers' tapes they
              send to colleges for tryouts for scholarships. If you post your girls twirling, please let me know.

I will post pictures as soon as I can. I never twirled. We got into it by accident. My one daughter was too young for a jazz class (the 12 year old), so I said let's try baton I think she was 7 at the time. My older daughter was drafted when she was playing with a baton in the parking lot while we were waiting to get her sister from practice. My little one was always tagging along. So of course as soon as she was old enough she joined. We don't do parades. Just competitions. We compete in Tournament of Bands Chapter 11.


Hey, remember when we tried not to step on a crack (to protect our mother's backs) ? Now we have to worry about our kids smoking it.

In Hawai'i flip flops are called slippers -- I got in such a habit of calling them that - that when I got home no one had a clue what I was talking about.

I lived in Nice, France for a year and bought a "bikini" there.  First of all it was hard to find one big enough to cover anything much and second of all girls seldom wore the top half so I thought they should have been called "monokinis" and cost half the money.  I paid a small fortune for what amounted to one hankerchief with some string thrown in for free.  Never had the nerve to wear it here.

Remember when you gave a phone number by giving a word for the first two numbers? Growing up I was ALpine 6 or 256. This came up last year when I took a group of 20 somethings to one of my favorite local restaurants - West 5 which here in West Seattle was how you'd say 935. I was explaining it to them and they were looking at me like I had tulips growing out of my head. They all took out their phone to confirm that West 5 was in fact 935. Then we had a round of deciding what our numbers would be today.

My home phone would be West 8 but my cell phone hmmm ... 65 ... Olympic 0?
