Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« on: February 14, 2008, 12:01:59 PM »

Just got the news that a lady who was a patient in our unit passed away in the States.  She was a native of my country Barbados, but lived in the British Virgin Islands for years.  I met her when i started dialysis and we became friends.  One day we were talking, and she told me that she knew an Olivia Barker who was the best teacher she ever had.  Turned out she was my sister - the one who taught me to read and write and was a mother to me. Antoinette (that is her name) left to go and stay with her daughters in the States (she is an american citizen), but we still kept in contact.  She even gave me the number of a phonecard so I could call her cheaply and she told me she would always top it up when I asked.  A beautiful person, with a very dignified manner.   she has been plagued with strokes from time to time.  It is hard to know she is gone.  And this week is definitely not a good time for me to get this kind of news!

Bajanne, I have been thinking of you all week and that was before I heard about your friend.  I am so sorry.  I know your pain is huge right now, especially with Susie, too.    Your posts always are full of calm, faith and love.  I hope you know we all love you and you can feel our arms around you :grouphug;  It certainly is an incredibly hard week.   Love you :cuddle;

Sorry to hear about that, Bajanne. You're in my prayers. This has been a hard week for everyone it seems. My access problems are continuing, I've been feeling bad because my iron is low, then yesterday I found out the bad news about Susie, and now hearing that your friend died. However, with God's guidance, we will all make it through. Take care  :grouphug;

Ah Bajannne, I'm so sorry. Life is throwing you some really hard ones this week. But I'm so glad you had that wonderful connection... it's still there, despite the grief and loss.

Thank you all so much. It means a lot to me.  The other day when I got the news of how low Susie was, it was a real comfort to be able to go into the chatroom with Sluff and Okarol.  I didn't feel so alone with this grief.  I really love my IHD family.  I don't even know how to deal with the loss of Susie.  I still can't believe it.  She sent me some stuff from Vegas, and one of the things was a beautiful pink cup with glitter and a little tiara and the words "Vegas Princess".   I thought of her whenever I saw it, and now it is even more precious to me.
