He is the love of my life......

« on: June 22, 2006, 04:43:00 PM »

I dont know about the rest of you but i am a big music lover.  I love all kinds,  especially Classic Rock,  i love me some Doobies, Eagles, CCR, Steve Miller and the list goes on.  I also love the Disco era, ahhhhhh yesssss,  i too "love the night life,  love to boogie"  lol   although i was young when that first came out,  hearing those songs really take me back to some really good times...  Does anyone have an absolute favorite song?  is there a song that makes you cry?  I told my hubby when i die (which wont be for years and years and years, i hope)  that i want that song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong played at  my funeral.   He says he wants "Free Bird"  to this day, i cant hear those darn songs without busting out in tears at the thought....  Music is such a big part of our lives in so many ways,   or maybe you and your spouse have a song, Please share with me.......

I have an eclectic collection of music.  My tastes vary.  My latest obsessions have ranged from Johnny Cash to Shakira.

I love ALOT of different kinds of music, ranging from disco to hard core rap.

I love the old school love songs from groups/singers like:

Marvin Gaye
Gregory Abbott
Isley Brothers
Earth, Wind, and Fire
Al Green
Malo

But I also love early Rap from artists like:

N.W.A.
Eazy E.
Run DMC
DJ Quick
Digital Underground
LL Cool J
2pac

But I also love newer Rap/hiphop from artists like:

Ludacris
Nelly
Eminem
Outcast
Black Eyed Peas

But I also love Rock from groups like:

Doobie Brothers
Aerosmith
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Uncle Kracker
Eagles
Creed
Limp Bizkit
3 Doors Down

But I also love some County music from artist like:

Garth Brooks
Toby Keith
Kenny Chesney
Shania Twain
Kenny Rogers

And I also love disco music from groups like:

Bee Gees
Rose Royce
The Hues Corporation
Kool and the Gang
Vicki Sue Robinson
War
Gloria Gaynor
Four Seasons

And finally I love these groups (genre mixed)

Gilbert O'Sullivan
Dean Martin
Mike And The Mechanics
Tom Jones
Carpenters
Christopher Cross

So as you can see I have a very eclectic taste in music.  ;D I can go from listening to "Eazy E - Boyz in the hood" to "Captain And Tennile - Love Will Keep Us Together"

I'm with Epoman on this one.  The only place we really differ is on new Rap/Hiphop.  About the only artist I can stand in that category is Eminem, and I think that is because of how much fun he has with his music and videos.  I have around 700 cd's and around 1500 LP's ranging from Herb Alpert and The Tiauana Brass Band to Eminem. For those of a younger crowd LP's or albums are big black plastics discs that you put on a "turntable" and put a needle on them to get music to play.  ;)  I always try and pick up vinyl when possible.  Though it's rare to see bands doing nowadays some do once in a while.  There is something about those pops and hisses that I dig.

GREAT topic! I'm a classic rocker but am very eclectic also. I took a stack of cd's to the garage outside this weekend to garden by, here is who was out there with me: Tom Petty,Kid Rock, Earth Wind and Fire,Johnny Cash, The Eagles,Queen,CrosbyStills&Nash,WillieNelson.  I find that the kind of music that I'm listening to depends on my activity. My son grew up thinking that when we did a big house-clean it was the law to listen to Tom Petty. When I quilt or sew it's Aaron Neville.

Anyone remember Wild Cherry, play that funky music? I saw them in concert, the very first day I got my license, and my very first date. That song will always take me back to a day when the world was a brand new place.
I like all types of music, just the 70s were, IMO the best
