He is the love of my life......

« Reply #42 on: January 23, 2008, 09:13:43 PM »

Hi,  :waving; i am home (finally)  I went to the surgeon and he said those need to come out ASAP.  He explained the procedure to me but i was a nervous, crying wreck (thank God my mom was with me to take it all in) :P  They are going to have to cut me open and remove the deposits and put in a wound vac? (someone please let me know what to expect with this)  He told me that these things could eventually kill people if left untreated so please do not ignore them if you get them.  They scheduled me for Friday morning at 6:am and said i will be in there for at least 3 days. :(  He was very comforting and let me know he was going to see me through this and that i would be ok (what a big baby i am huh)  :-\ I am scared as hell but let me tell you, just seeing all of  the love and support i have from all of you, i feel a bit stronger, I feel like i can conquer anything (with you all behind me that is) :) ;)  Your prayers, good thoughts and wishes are so very much appreciated.  I could feel all the cyber hugs and finally once today, i can finally smile :)  Thank you my friends, NO, thank YOU, my family ;) for all of your support, i think that is going to be the best medicine i can ask for (even better than that ol' morphine) but i'll still take the morphine, please  ::)  LOVE YOU ALL...  :grouphug;

Sorry to hear you have to have surgery. Did he say how soon ASAP is? I haven't heard of a wound vac, though when I had my back surgery, they put tubes in the incision going to bags to drain  blood, maybe its something like that? I hope all goes well for you  :grouphug;

That's great news Susie! You were afraid they were gonna say "Too late, too bad" but instead they are going to fix you up!
I will pray like a maniac that all goes well - I know it will - so let me know if there's anything you need and I will be happy to help if I can! Love you!

Found this info on the internet: V.A.C.® Therapy helps enable caregivers to reach positive outcomes for a variety of chronic and acute wound types, such as pressure ulcers, diabetic wounds, abdominal wounds, trauma wounds, flaps and grafts.

Vacuum-assisted closure, also called negative pressure wound therapy or NPWT, is a technique designed to promote the formation of granulation tissue in the wound bed either as an adjunct to surgical therapy, or as an alternative to surgery in a debilitated patient. In this system, special foam dressing with an attached evacuation tube is inserted into the wound and covered with an adhesive drape in order to create an airtight seal. Negative pressure is then applied and the wound effluent is collected in a cannister.

I know how scared you are Susie, but I would be more scared to leave them untreated. I wasn't quite with it when you called me last night too many drugs and woke me up. ::) Your call is always important and I'm sorry I didn't talk longer especially with what you are going through. I will call you today. It's going to be so weird not seeing you post for awhile and I know your family here will miss you as much as you will miss us, but we know you will be fine, and they will take good care of you while you are gone.

Lots of prayers for a quick recovery, love ya sis.  :grouphug;  :grouphug;

Girlfriend, you don't know how I feel that I only just saw this. Thank goodness that Sluff told me what you were going through.  i am so sorry that you were going through all of that and i wasn't there with you.  But I am here now in spirit.  Please feel my love surrounding you.  You are in my prayers big time.  I am glad to see that your last post was in better spirits.  You are going to get through this.  i had one of those vacuum things after one of my surgeries (don't remember which one!).  You are going to make it through.  so glad you finally went and got it checked.  You haven't been our usual Susie for quite a while.
Never doubt that my caring thoughts and prayers are with you all the way.  I love you tons and loads and megatons and megaloads!
