In da House.

« on: January 21, 2008, 09:12:19 AM »

Please dont say it !! A while ago my best friend of 30yrs decided to 'forget' about me ..well guess what? I got a txt off her asking if we could meet up, the out come of that was to tell me her and her hubby are splitting  up ..Marvellous how i am the first person she comes running too and all the things 'we' can do , shopping, meals out, etc. I know i should turn my back on her, like she did to me ..but ...am i being too soft?

I soooo understand your problem.     You know the pain she is going through and also know how much it hurt when people fell by the wayside when you were diagnosed.  No one understands a person in need more than one who has been in a similar situation.   I resently had a major reconcilliation with my sister after 10 years of her not treating me very well.  But, it was easier to make peace and have my sister back, than it was to continue the way it was.  We are doing great and really enjoying where we are now.  Forgiveness is easy and you seem to be there already.   Good luck and let us know how this turns out.   :cuddle;

I'm not surprised.  As Paris and Sluff say, be the better person. You know how she is, she knows how she is.  I'd say that's enough punishment for her. Sometimes it takes something like this to shake someone out of their complacent world.

I'm with the others. I can carry a grudge with the best of 'em, but if you feel like you're in a good place to forgive her, then do it. It'll be easier on you in the long run that way.

By Tracy Lawrence- a country music singer.

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Or get yourself in a bind,
Lose the shirt off your back,
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare...

This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
This is where the truth don't lie

You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think
"What's in it for me?"
Or "It's way too far"
They just show on up
With their big ol' heart
You find out who your friends are...

Everybody wants to slap your back
Wants to shake your hand
When you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way
Then you slide back down
Look up and see who's around then

This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off.

You find out who your friends are
[Find Out Who Your Friends Are lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think
"What's in it for me?"
Or "It's way too far"
They just show on up
With their big ol' heart
You find out who your friends are...

When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there?

You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think
"What's in it for me?"
Or "It's way too far"
They just show on up
With their big ol' heart
You find out who your friends are...

You find out who your friends are...

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Man I been there
Or get yourself in a bind
Lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare...
Man I been there
Man I been there...

I'd say forgive her (but never forget!) and be careful that she doesn't wear you down.  Have the friendship run on your terms, not hers.  :twocents;

For some strange reason i ended up posting this in the wrong section ...brain-storm ..or ahem technical error hehe! All i can say is i will give it one more chance ,but if she drops me again if a new man comes on the scene or just wants my company while she is feeling down , then i wont be able to forgive her a second time.

I call those people "fair weather friends". When you have something they need, they are there - when they don't need you they are nowhere to be found. If you give her a second chance, I hope she values your friendship this time - good luck  :thumbup;

This is something I am way too familiar with unfortunately.. When I was 'healthy' I had ppl calling me up to go out, but now, well now I only have a few friends left. The way I look at it is if they cannot handle my situation, and be there for me when times are not 'fun' , well they can all kick rocks!

In my experience, girls that will dump you when a guy comes along really don't ever change.  Just be prepaired for it the next time.  Some girls are so afraid of being alone they will hook-up and hang-on to anyone - you included.  I so know what you're going through.  Good Luck.
