Now that I've had a transplant, my insurance is offering a case manager, so I figured, "can't hurt", right? So today she was getting all the basic information from me and something good and something bad came out of it.

First the bad - this would have happened anyway, I just found out about it sooner. Apparently, because of the type of pharmacy insurance I have with them, which is related to my medical coverage, I have to use a specific mail-order prescription service. They're letting me wait until I'm stabilized on my anti-rejection meds before I have to switch, but I can tell ya from experience...the docs are ALWAYS changing something! It's not a weekly or monthly change like at first, but it does change several times a year. Damn, that's gonna be frustrating!

Now the good - they offer a list of resources: websites they recommend, National Kidney Foundation and the like. I told her that for people on dialysis (they have case managers for them, too), I recommend I Hate Dialysis.com. I told her it helps to talk to other patients who are going through the same thing so you know what to expect and that it has been incredibly helpful for me emotionally. She said she would pass it on to her management team to review. Just had to share! Thanks everyone for making this site worth recommending!

I was assigned a case manager as soon as I was listed.  I also had to switch to mail order pharmacy. It isn't too bad. My doctor fax them the prescribtion and I get it about 5 days, 3 months worth.  If there is a change, I can get a months prescribtion filled at the local pharmacy.  It has saved me lots of money in co-pays. The first month was a hassel just getting everything started, but now I manage it all online--refills and they send me email reminders when I am due refills.  I hope your process goes smoothly.  I know, just one more thing to deal with.    Good luck, Katie.  Hope today is going well and your resting.   Take care :cuddle;

me too Express-scripts out of St Louis, MO have to get 3 months at a time do it all on line and save money except sometimes they take a few extra days to delv. so order your refills a little sooner...Boxman
