Well . . . I love your site!  But I don't think I'll show it to my boss.  I'm an NHHD training nurse who works for a company that begins with "F" and rhymes with "BRESENIOUS."  But I do have a serious question for you!  Or a few!  Call it quality improvement:

1.  What do you like or hate about us?
2.  What do you like or hate about our competitors?
3.  What do you like or hate about our machines?
4.  What do I need to do to get your business?

:)  Thanks!

Hehehe, I think I tracked your post back to HomeDialysis.org...........here's my take on your response..

1.  What do you like or hate about our machines?

For home use, too much work to maintain.........however, the new model 5008 seems interesting.

2.  What do I need to do to get your business?

Education, talk to your patients. be their friend.

Why would you not show it to your boss?  ???

1) I don't hate your machine, nor do I have any reason to like your machine. It's a typical dialysis machine.
2) I love NxStage they started a revolution.
3) You company is trying to improve on a machine that is already built. Your company needs to reach out and experiment, like NxStage. Think of the "HOME" user.
4) Build a dialysis machine that fits in my BODY!

Any other questions?  ;D

Did you know that medical organizations are trying to get a new system of giving kidneys............incentives to donors of kidneys......things like tax cuts and that sort......but some critics say that it will hurt the poor people. National Kidney Foundation is also against it........ this information was posted by Bill Peckham in the dialyisis list serve.......once I get back to my workstation will post here....

Tax cuts would be great.  Anything to boost the incentive.  The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) gives an organ donor 30 days off with pay.

I think a payment of $10,000 for funeral expenses by the recipients insurance company would give families a nudge and help "poor" people.

Who knows if this would work but it sure beats the sales of illegal organs in the U.S. .....anyway, here's the links......

...4.  What do I need to do to get your business?

:)  Thanks!

Try to get every nephrologist who has contact w/ any of your patients to give all of their patients complete and accurate information about dialysis BEFORE they need it.

Try to teach the Nephrologists and all of your staff how the machines work so they'll quit writing and expecting to use "one size fits all" prescriptions.

Push for home dialysis and portable machines.

Turn the air conditioning to a level which is optimum for the patients.

Expect the dietitians and social workers to frequently interact w/ the patients and quit relying on and passing out old and out of date information.

Maybe a new renal/dialysis diet cookbook for those who have to go in-center 3x4???

Provide internet access and lockers.

Monitor the techs more closely so patients do not have to watch every second to make sure they're following sterile procedures.

Encourage every patient on HD to try to get a natural A/V fistula and teach self cannulation w/ "buttonhole" access.

Have a means of anonymously alerting the staff of problems, so patients aren't afraid of retaliation for complaining.

and thanks for asking. ;D

Teach your techs and nurses to be professional at all times when in the clinic.  If a patient has a complaint take the complaint and DO something about it!  Don't just label the patient as a trouble  maker. Often we are our own advocates and noone else will speak up. Often the people around us are not vocal or able to speak for themselves or are afraid of retaliation.

I have dealt with Fresenius in Canada (Toronto) and I have nothing but good things to say about their service to me. I had to call every month for delivery of products for my Cycler Machine (CCPD) until I got Peritonitis and had to go to in-clinic Hemo. Now I found out that my dialysis unit for PD has switched to Baxter. Well, I just wanted to say that I have never had any problems with Fresenius even when I travelled to the States and needed another machine from Wisconsin.
