Hi Everyone, new here

Hi everyone. I am new here so I just wanted to introduce myself. I am not on dialysis, but my father is and I am his caregiver. He has been on dialysis for a year now. He was life flighted to our trauma center one year ago and was in complete renal failure. After a two month stay in the hospital and a surgery for a bleed on the brain, he has recovered with only dialysis as a reminder of what happened. We are really new to all of this and learning as we go along. Some days he cramps bad, and other days are great. Just wanted to let you know I am thankful for the way you all support each other. I have learned allot just from reading your posts. Well thanks again

Glad you found us. This is a great site with wonderful people ready to help you down this road. We are all grateful to family who help us and I am sure your father is so glad to have you. Post often and let us know more about you and your dad.

Hi Rodia722, Welcome to IHD there is a lot of discussion about cramping on this site please ask so we can help your dad. After a year he should have this not happening hardly at all. At least that is my experience...Boxman

Welcome rodia,
I'm glad you decided to join the family. Care taking is a tough job, it takes a special person to handle that job, it comes easy for some and not so easy for others.
Your Dad is very lucky to have you to help. This disease is hard enough to deal with sometimes when you have help, and I can't imagine someone dealing with it alone. We have many members who do deal with this alone and I don't know how they do it.
I hope you continue to read, and enjoy your stay. Feel free to post as often as you like.

Hi Rodia, Welcome to ihatedialysis.com. This is a great place to be.
Sorry to hear about all the troubles your dad has gone through and i am glad he is doing better (other than the dialysis)
We are a supportive group here and we all know what you and he are going through, remember you are not alone.
I hope we hear more from you soon. Good luck to both you and your dad

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.
