Ever since the "no call" list I haven't gotten sales calls at my house anymore. But lately I have noticed an increase in the calls that are "surveys" - I don't really know what they want because as soon as they start talking I tell them I don't do phone surveys, and I hang up. I just can't help but think that companies have found a new way to invade our lives using the phone and after getting 4 calls in 4 days! Anyone else experiencing this? Or am I just the lucky one??  ???

I'm on the "don't call" list too, yet still get survey inquiries. They are usually political surveys when I bother to give them the time of day. Also, I still seem to get pre-recorded messages left on my machine about how I can refinance my house  for cheap. All in all, I would say I get a lot fewer calls now than before (thank goodness!).

Oh yeah, lots o' surveys.  They always say it will take "just a few minutes," which is a LIE!  I have learned that lesson, so now I refuse to participate.

I get survey calls too, I just hang up.

I get hounded with loads of charities calling me.  I said yes to a donation for Breast Cancer, now I get calls each month for this.  Along with Lung Cancer, Police and Fire donations.  It's absolutely crazy.  I tell them we can't do it at this time and one guy made me feel so guilty!!!  I hate these calls!

Ron Paul and his wife have called me 3 or 4 times in the last month.  Those #$@^%% recorded messages that you can't hang up on.  You hang up, then pick up the phone to call out and they're still talking!  >:(

We solved that problem very easily. We got rid of our land line. We only use our cell phones and we've NEVER gotten a sales call, survey, or anything in the 5 years we've done this. And it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

I WISH we could do that. We have no cell phone reception for 2 blocks in every direction from our house. It sucks.

I had that problem when I signed up with AT&T 5 years ago. I promptly put up a big stink and switched back to Verizon. Never had a problem since. Love 'em!

I had AT&T for 12 years, no reception. Switched to Verizon 2 years ago, and have had 2 different phones - Razor and LG - since then, but same problem. We live in a black hole for some bizarre reason that no one can explain.  :banghead;

Is there a tower really close to your house, karol?  If you are too close, that kills reception.

I don't think so, I live in a part of Pasadena that is all residential, with a park-like arroyo running along the side of our neighborhood. I think I would see such a thing, wouldn't I? Anyway, I can always get reception if I go 2 blocks, but our cells are useless at home. I guess if I started getting survey calls on the cell phone then it would be a blessing not to have the service at home!

My brother in law  is a Cell site engineer for ATT and he can not get service at his house .  :banghead;

Also as far as survey calls go . I make them read the question over and over trying to understand it .
They can not hang up , so I get no more calls .... :thx;

Also as far a sales calls . I had the LA Times keep calling me until I lied and told them I was blind and could
not read the paper , No more calls there either .  :bandance;

Cell phone companies sometimes "share" their towers and bounce signals off other's, so if you're in an area that has a tower used by both Verizon and AT&T, that would explain why you don't get reception with either of them.

I don't think so, I live in a part of Pasadena that is all residential, with a park-like arroyo running along the side of our neighborhood. I think I would see such a thing, wouldn't I? Not necessarily, some "towers" are very small antennas on the top of buildings. They can be disguised in all sorts of ways. You'd never even realize it unless someone pointed it out to you.

I agree that AT&T/SunCom sucks big time!

Karol, try a Nokia.  They seem to pick up weak signals much better than others.  We're almost 10 miles from the nearest town and only the Nokia picks up in my house with the metal roof.

Karol, my husband got a little item from a work seminar he went to that might solve your problem. It's a little stick on microchip, thinner than a slice of gum, that you stick to the back of your cell phone. It's about 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches in size, and 1/16th of an inch thick. It is supposed to improve your cell phone range and signal. It has worked wonders for me. I don't know who makes it, nor does he remember who the vendor was, but you are such a good internet investigator, maybe you can find something about it. I sure can't.
