Still alive on the flatlands

« on: November 20, 2007, 08:34:42 PM »

New to the forum, but have been on hemo for 4 plus years. I have survived having life-sites, tunnel caths, and currently have a AV fistula that keeps me alive. I am currently on the transplant list at Mayo, have been for 3 years. They tell me I am getting close to the miracle of getting a new kidney. Thank you for your views on dialysis, even after several years I learn a lot from your posts. There are good days and bad, so hang in there. I have learned one big lession, never accept what a doctor tells you absolutely. Do your own research, learn about your condition and what works best for you.  :thx;
Good luck to all, flatxlander

Welcome to our community!  We are very glad to have you here with us.  It is clear that you have much to offer, just as we have much to offer you.  At least you have a place to vent when you need to and know that people really understand what you are going through.  Since this is what you want, I do hope that you will get a successful transplant very soon.  PLease keep us posting on what is going on with you.  Take advantage of all this site has to offer.  Thank you for your lovely wishes.   :grouphug;

I agree with you about learning all you can about what the doctors tell you. This site is an important part of gathering that information.

Welcome!
