Still alive on the flatlands

New to the forum, but have been on hemo for 4 plus years. I have survived having life-sites, tunnel caths, and currently have a AV fistula that keeps me alive. I am currently on the transplant list at Mayo, have been for 3 years. They tell me I am getting close to the miracle of getting a new kidney. Thank you for your views on dialysis, even after several years I learn a lot from your posts. There are good days and bad, so hang in there. I have learned one big lession, never accept what a doctor tells you absolutely. Do your own research, learn about your condition and what works best for you.  Good luck to all, flatxlander |

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com, I'm glad you found us and joined. there is lots of helpful information here and I hope no matter how long someone is on dialysis that this site will always be a source of help.

December 2001 - Kidney function improved dialysis no longer necessary
October 2006 - Kidney function started to decline
May 9, 2007 - Listed at Baylor Dallas and Fort Worth
October 12, 2007 - Started PD
May 13, 2008 - Kidney Transplant from a deceased donor

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.
