AV Fistula, Right Arm, October 04, 2007

Hi
« on: October 19, 2007, 10:16:46 AM »

I sort of stumbled across this web site.  I guess I was attracted to the name, because that is the way I feel.  Haven't had dialysis yet, from what I have read I am in stage 4.  I did have a AV fistula put in. and now working on getting everything bigger.  I hate the words "learn to accept"  I have had to do that just to often in my life, and I have been down this road before with my son, although we had different things affect the kidneys.  The doctors say not to worry, and used technical terms, so I ask them to write it down and then go home and look it up on the computer.  That is about it for now.  Mel

 :waving; Hi Mel,
I have learned so much from the internet regarding kidney disease, dialysis and transplants - it's been a real education. Once a doctor told me "Get off the web, you're just scaring yourself!" but I believe knowledge is power!

I believe knowledge is power too!  I really am glad to find this site.  I can't talk to my family, they are great, but they really can't understand what I am feeling. Someday I might share why I have all the negative feelings, right now it is a rollercoaster ride an I can't get off.  Mel

Excellent idea to have your Neph write it all down then come to the computer to look it up. You will find very knowledgeable members here at IHD also.

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com the best resource for information about CKD and Dialysis. Hope you enjoy your visit and come back often.

Welcome to our community!  That was a good 'stumble' you did.   This site has been an awesome support place from those of us facing this renal challenge.  The main thing is that you realize that you are not alone.  Then, this is a very frank and open site.  That is what the founder Epoman intended.  Here we tell it like it is.  I myself was tremendously helped by the site.  Not only that, but now I have a wonderful international family of people who share and care.  Please take advantage of all this site has to offer.  Keep posting and let us know how things are going with you. [this is a great place to let of steam when you need to!] :grouphug;

and KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

i know how you feel. i hate the words learn to accept as well. but jsut look at it like this...every one of us has a different path in life.we all are dealt different cards. just learn how to play i guess. acceptance is the begining of trying to "live" a normal life. being a dialysis pt will NEVER be normal or acceptable, but the easier we come to terms, the faster we can work out our lives as far as planning for the future, finding better ways of getting through, research and knowledge and even being a testimony to the next person. yeah it sucks but,...its real and its life.could it be worse? always. hope you stay stong and stay blessed.
