I am a nurse who has returned to the area of hemodialysis after a 12 year break.  I work in a 16 chair, free standing unit in the US. I worked in hemo for seven years in an outpatient unit and acutes before my hiatus and have been back about 11/2 years. I have been a nurse for 21 years and I think I will spend the rest of my career in the area of renal failure.  :bandance;

I think this site is great idea. I have told some of the evening patietns about it but not all are computer savvy. I found this site when I was looking for patient info about button hole technique. I also told some of the staff about it as I think they need to be reminded about what  our patients see, hear and think about our time together, 3 days a week. I think the store items are great too. :bandance;

 :welcomesign; Glad you found us. This is a great site with so much information and I am looking forward to all that you can teach us, too. We really appreciate when someone in the renal field wants to really know about the patients. :thumbup;

Welcome to IHD Roberta,

Thank you for dedicating your career to the Renal profession. I hope to see you a lot in the forums.
There is lots to read and learn especially from the patients point of view.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.
