That has got to be a record. I have to have a 3rd tube put in. The 1st tube was clogged from all the peritonitis I got the first year. This one has the first cuff showing, and I've had 2 infections at the exit site. So, both the neph and the surgeon recommend replacing it. I am not happy.  :boxing; :boxing; It's nobody's fault, but I feel so angry and upset right now.

Fluffy, I had the 2nd replacement because of P 3 times in one year. Grrrr... so far, no P, but two infections on the exit site was just two too many for my neph's comfort. Of course he isn't the one going through this procedure....it was easy for HIM to say it had to be replaced!!!  :boxing; :boxing;

I called the surgeon, the EARLIEST I can even see him is the 23rd. So it's hurry up and wait.

Third time had better be the charm, I can only hope!!! I called my nurse and BEGGED her to see if she could call the surgeon and get me in earlier. Sure enough, she did!! The 16th!! Hopefully I'll get the surgery that week if not the next. I'm a bit more philosophical about it. I don't like it, but I'll be cooperative. Gotta get done, right?

I've been so busy reading other posts, I forgot to post on this thread! I go in Thursday (25th) for my 3rd tube replacement. I'm kinda nervous, but more because of the discomfort afterwards than anything else.

Hey. I represent that remark. I am as normal as anyone else on this site. Really. Just don't ask anyone who knows me in real life. I told my kittahs I was having surgery and that I would be home ALL day with them!!! Oooo!!! They were excited. Especially Agatha. She promised she would NOT bounce on my belly this time.

Myss, I just now saw this post, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this (AGAIN!!). I hope replacing your cath fixes the problem and the third time is the charm, as Nina said. Sending good thoughts your way for your surgery tomnorrow.

Fluffy, so is that the end of PD for you? I'm so sorry if it is. I dread the thought of possibly having to go to hemo someday. Hope you're feeling better after your surgery, though!

t.tI tell ya, Nina. two weeks this past January was enough to convince me how lucky i was to be on PD. And now another two weeks of it Oh well.  I"m trying to get myself to sleep so  I can get myself up tomorrow morning. Not working so far. I DO get to go to my fiancee's though! My nurse called and said she got me an EARLY time for my first hemo this Friday, which means my fiancee can pick me up after he gets off work in Indy!! Yay!!!

Update. I am typing this lying down in bed. Surprisingly enough, I am not in too much pain. Discomfort, yes. pain, not really. Of course, I am on percocet right now. My surgeon ended up making a new exit site for this tube, then put in a catheter for hemo, of course. THAT's what hurts, the most. It's in my throat, bugs the heck outta me!! I've drinking a jamocha milkshake, with no guilt, I may add!!
