I am in the beginning stages of designing a website for my web design class and need some input. My subject for the site is going to be kidney failure, so I thought people here would have great input! I know what content I want to include, but am having trouble with the "look" of the site. My question is, what would you like to see on a site when you go looking for info on your kidneys? Do you like it to be colorful? Minimal? What colors do you like to see? Do you like "boxy" sites or more "organic" shapes on the page? Any input would be greatly appreciated! If you have some websites that you like the look of and would be appropriate for this subject (the content doesn't have to be about kidneys tho), please feel free to post a link to it!
BTW, my first homepage sketch is due this Wednesday!

With something of great importance such as "Renal Failure" i would definetly keep it as simple as possible, that way their eyes can focus more on the words and not on the pretty colors and/or shapes and stuff, of course color would be great, just not to overdo it. Just my

Yes, simpler is better. No fancy fonts on any long sections of text, not too many flashing, scrolling things - they make it hard to focus.

I agree with the others. Although nice soothing colors would be great.
I think I would also prefer more smooth lines rather than the boxy, more antiseptic look.
Some graphics are good too - just not too many.
What a great project by the way.

I don't think you want it to be too "minimal". Has to be more than black type on a white background. I like the soothing colors comment made previously. Some good graphics can attract, and hold, interest as well./bobt

Little late in posting a reply, but thought I would still ave some input. The thing I like that I have seen on some websites is the ability to choose the font size of the website, either small, medium, or large. I go with large due to my visual impairments. With diabetes being the major cause of blindness and more and more of the aging crowd using computers, the common font used becomes a strain on the eyes or it is hard to see.
That's my 2 cents worth of input.
