Cycler Dialysis and Partners

I wonder how many people on this site who use the Baxter cycler, are still able to share the same bed room as their partner. I have had to set everything up and sleep in a separate bedroom to my wife Rita. We tried for a few nights with the cycler in the main bedroom but it kept waking her up as she is a much lighter sleeper than me.
Also we both finished up in a tangle with the patient line (no it's not what you're probably thinking, just the result of us both turning over in our sleep!)

Anyway the upshot of it is that for five nights I sleep in the other room and Rita in the main bedroom. I am allowed two nights off dialysis (Friday and Sat.nights) and we then share the main bedroom. Quite often though I finish up back in the spare room even on Friday and Sat. because my legs start twitching after I've gone to sleep and after she's been on the receiving end of a few kicks she understandably responds by kicking me....out of the bedroom! lol

It doesn't affect our marriage in any way but I can imagine it may do so to younger couples.

Just wondered how many others on the site with partners have had to change bedrooms

I use the Baxter Cycler and hubby and i still sleep in the same bed   We dont seem to have any problems with the tubing or the noise (thank God)

I'm on the baxter cycler, and hubby and I still share the same bed. No problem with the tubing, and we've adjusted to the lights and the noise...just wish I could still cuddle to him-should've had them place cath on the opposite side, ughh!! He cuddles to me now instead...*big smile* Ditto on the THANK GOD

I wonder if some Baxters are noisier than others.

I find it so hard to believe how many people complain about the noise their cyclers make, i am not saying mine is 100% noise free, but it does let out a gurgle or a sigh every now and then but that is truly about it.

Susie that answers my question 'cause my Baxter gurgles and sighs for the whole time I'm filling or draining. It sounds like a giant jellyfish slopping round the room. Even in dwell time there's a constant hum and intermittent clicking noises but I know how to stop that. It's just the filling and draining noises that are a problem

I am on the Fresenius Sleep safe and it is pretty quiet. It took a little while to get use to the clicks and humming, but it is not a problem now. I am also a light sleeper. My husband slept through crying babies, so it doesn't bother him at all!

A few nights may not be long enough to get use to it. Give yourselves a bit more time and i am sure you will forget its there.
