Wattle, I remember vaguely that movie and yes they went out on the ice to fish. It is a lot of fun. You travel out on to the ice on a snowmobile or 4-wheeler then you set up your fish shanty or tent with no floor. Some people leave a wooden shack out on the ice all winter. Next thing you do is start up the heater then you drill holes through the ice about 12" in diameter. Then you use very small fishing poles they are about 18" long and what we call a tip up. You drop your bait through the ice (or hard water as we call it) and attach it to the tip up, which has a flag so that when a fish bites the flag tips up. Then you set your warm beverage and hot sandwich down and fight the fish. Then you start all over again. Because of the propane heater you stay fairly comfortable in the shanty...Boxman
oh ya I forgot one very important item. You have to make sure the ice is thick enough to hold you and your stuff ;D

My sister is in Wisconsin now, she's like a little kid with the snow, loves it! Wonder how long the novelty lasts?

Until she gets stuck in it or has to shovel it once too often!

This weekend we got 25 cm of snow.  Luckily where I live we are used to getting a lot of snow and it is dealt with very well.  Now if only we could get the town to plow our driveway  ;D

 :snowman;  I just saw the weather report for Richmond Va . They are calling for a chance
of snow on Christmas day and night ... Would be all of ours first white Christmas , That would
be fun except I have to go to work on Weds a.m. and I have no snow driving experience at all.

Be easy on the gas pedal, also if you do start to lose control - simply put the car in neutral & tap the brake- do not over steer. If a roadway looks dicey, try to stay toward the fresh snow on the roadway, less driven on will give better traction then the "beaten" path. Good luck  :thumbup;
* If anti-lock brakes, follow manufacturer's recommendations*

Like your house Boxman!!  Like the icicles. They are on my house too.  Look so pretty. Not a good idea to stand underneath the big ones. They can hurt if they fall on you!!!
