I am no mean expert in buying tech. stuffs, so I need some advices.  My budget is under $1000.  Both of my nephews are under 12.  They like to use this computer to play on-line games.

I have a Dell and a Mac - the Dell has worked well, the Mac has more difficult that I imagined. I am technically challenged so I don't have any other advice, but I think asking people what they like/dislike about their computers is a good way to start.

I love my Dell, seriously. I have had several gateways ( sold out now to Acer) I am much happier with the Dell. I have 2 of them.

I like my IMac. Easy to use and a simple machine. (I was a Windows user, now I am a mac user.)

st789,

Despite Rerun's experience, nothing will give you more bang for your buck than a new Dell.  My second choice would be HP.

Are you looking for a computer only or computer and flat panel LCD monitor?

Are you sure?

For $1,000 you can buy two desktops and two LCD monitors if you're patient.

Here's an example of a Dell deal from last month (8/20) which was VERY VERY HOT:

Intel Core2 Duo Processor E4300 (1.80GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800FSB)
Genuine Windows XP Home
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz - 2DIMMs
Dell 19 inch Widescreen E198WFP Analog Flat Panel Monitor
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
48x CD-RW / DVD-ROM Combo Drive
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
1 Year Limited Hardware Warranty with Next Business Day On-Site Service
10GB for 1yr Online Backup by Dell Datasafe

Guess how much?
