I will be recording the show on two of my Tivo's.  If you can't see the show over the air or record it yourself there is a way for you to watch my recordings on your computer.

Just email me for directions on how to do it.

Just email me for directions on how to do it.

Why bother with emails...here is how to do it:

To watch Zach’s documentary you will need to access a device called a “Slingbox” with your computer over the internet .  I have two of them here so if one is busy you can try the other.  One Slingbox is connected to a Tivo recorder and the other to a Directv DVR.  Both the Tivo and the Directv DVR do the same thing, they just look a little different on screen.  The documentary will be recorded on both the Tivo and the Directv DVR.  You use the Slingboxes to control the Tivo and the DVR.

You need software in order to use the Slingbox so go to www.slingmedia.com and  move your cursor over the “Support” bar.  When the dropdown box appears move down to “downloads” and download either Slingplayer for Windows or Slingplayer for Mac.

The setup wizard will guide you through what you need to do to make the player work on your computer.   You’ll need these two pieces of information to get access to the two Slingboxes here during the software setup.  What you’ll need is the Slingbox ID and the password for each box in order to access them.  For the first Slingbox, the Slingbox ID is: KTLA Slingbox and the password is: wave.  For the second Slingbox the Slingbox ID is: K6TLA Slingbox and the password is also: wave.

Follow the setup wizard and you should be able to access either Slingbox/Tivo or DVR combination quite easily.  Once you get everything setup you'll have the viewer software and a remote control displayed on your computer screen.  Use the remote control to control the Tivo or DVR just like you would if it was in your hand. You can use these as much or as often as you like.  Enjoy the other programming recorded on the recorders as well if you like..it is all G rated!

My film, THESE KIDS MEAN BUSINES$ is making the rounds at local PBS stations from coast-to-coast.  From New York City to Los Angeles, from Indianapolis to Juneau, from Gainsville to Pittsburgh, from Denver to Rapid City.  This is the culmination of five years of work--and yes, by a person on in-center hemodialysis!

BTW, it wasn't the dialysis that slowed me down, it was the fundraising!
This is my eighth PBS documentary since 1992.  My last one, Closing the Achievement Gap, was broadcast in 2004.

If you go to this media research page, on the lower right hand side you'll find, Media Platforms airing These Kids Mean Business. Scroll down and it shows all the stations/channels that have shown or will show THESE KIDS MEAN BUSINES$ through this Sunday September 2nd.  Many PBS stations have several channels: analog, digital and high definition digital.  Click the station call letters and you can see their schedule for the week.

Thanks Livecam and Zach for the video.    Livecam , I tried to use the Sling shot player after downloading the software but after putting in the Finder ID " KTLA Slingbox " and then moved my cursor arrow to password box and clicked it to put in wave, the ID disappears and replaces itself with "AB" and a pop up opens telling me to use numbers 0-9 and letters A- F only.
What am I doing wrong and what can I do to correct it ?

Phooey, the PBS channel on my satellite isn't showing yet, either.  I keep scrolling ahead in the guide, looking for it, so hopefully it will show up soon.

That's a nice offer, livecam.  I may be tempted if it doesn't show up soon on my dish guide.

Or I could just order a copy from PBS!

Congrats, Zach!

Sorry Hippy I screwed up with the instructions.  You will need the finder ID as well to configure the player.  Enter "KTLA Slingbox" as the alias and use this string as the finder ID: 9F280655-7654-BE48A6BB-CC5C-F80AE4E2

For the other Slingbox the Alias is "K6TLA Slingbox" and the finder ID is: 6293B027-BAB1-0346B381-5E0F-672B7AE1

Now it should work.

I watched the documentary last night. I agree with a lot of the points.  We do need entreprenuership training in the schools to prepare kids to go out into the world. The United States has lost so many manufacturing jobs and has turned into a service based job country.  No more factory jobs, so the kids have to be prepared for making their own way especially in rural communities.

 Good job Zach. It must be a thrill to see your name as director on a film!   :beer1;

I'm not messing with your head at all! A Slingbox is a computer based device that controls things like cable tuners, DVD players, satelite receivers etc. and sends the picture and sound from them over the internet to another computer anywhere in the world.  The physical box in my case sits in my house but any computer with the SlingPlayer software installed can access my Slingbox and control the devices connected to it.  In my case there are two Slingboxes here and each is connected to a digital video recorder.  By accessing either Slingbox you can watch on your computer whatever is coming in live on either DVR or whatever is recorded on it.  I have Zach's show recorded on both DVR's so there are two ways to access it from here.
