Hi there Nick. Hey buddy are you and your mom going to make it to Las Vegas in October to meet up with a bunch of us? Also we added a under 18 section also if you would like to add anything to it. You are always invited to post anywhere, but maybe it would be nice to have your own section to relate with others your same age. http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=50.0

Yes I heard that. Did you also know that wherever you are in the world you are only six inches from a spider? Arachnophobic!

Heehehee - I know someone who is so arachnaphobic that he can't sleep without a full glass of water next to his pillow - someone told him once that the spiders crawl on us for the moisture, and that they would go for the water first.

One day my daughter opened up the dishwasher and a spider ran out at her.   She was half way down the hallway screaming for me before the door of the dishwasher was all the way opened.  I was laughing at her. Ever since she opens the dishwasher door carefully and stands back from it.

I don't do spiders. They're just not on my list of "things I agree to deal with".

I've learned to be reasonably calm, but I move away quickly and call my husband straight away. He has to kill them, he knows the rules. However, if it's a giant huntsman he will pick it up ( :urcrazy;) and put it outside in the garden. I hate that.

"There's something about spiders that gives most people the creeps, instilling a sense of fear and loathing upon seeing one. It's as though there's a part of the human brain that perceives the form of a spider as dangerous or threatening. Perhaps those deep dark feelings we get when we see a spider are echoes of an ancient human behavioral response known as instinct. Most of the thousands of species of spiders on this earth carry a venom that is virtually harmless to humans, but there are a few species which carry a deadly venom. Based on primitive human experiences a permanent message has been embedded in our genetic make-up, one that warns us that spider = danger. And when we see a spider that is as large as a dinner plate, we get the creeps BIG TIME. "

Well this is regarding 8 spiders per year - so it may be a different statistic, but I am hoping and praying I don't swallow any spiders - otherwise I might never sleep again!  ???

Me irrational fear only started in my 20s. I was going through a period of depression and anxiety problems, and the house we were living in at the time was somewhat infested with spiders of all kinds.

One night I just couldn't cope anymore, and when I asked my husband to kill a spider, which then came running towards me, I just lost the plot and had a massive panic attack. With that kind of unpleasantness now associated in my mind with spiders, I can't see myself ever being able to do anything except loathe them, ever again.

Having said that, I only loathe them if they're near me, running free. I do have a certain fascination with the creatures and I like to look at them/read about them in books and at museums. So I dunno *shrug* - go figure that one out!

Oh Nick!! Yuck!  I like hot dogs, but cow butt????   Now we are all afraid of eating spiders in our sleep and we can't eat another hot dog without thinking of a cow's backside.  You are doing a great job of grossing us out!! :2thumbsup;
