Every time there is a good debate going on, I think of how much Epoman would have enjoyed it.  Still missing him and his thoughts.

I support the people who make up the U.S. military but that doesn't necessarily mean I am gung ho about any fight.  I am not proud in the sense I want to show my muscle.  I see and hear of so many people exclaiming their pride for America and then they will say some dumb crap like, "I wish they would just build a wall to keep everyone out", or "just nuke the bastards", or "hell yea, kick their ass".  I am sure you get my point.

I am proud of what America was meant to stand for, I support the people of the military (the people that take the orders), I like baseball, hamburgers and hotdogs, coke a cola, apple pie, I believe the children are our future and I believe glitters last post was a bit rooty tooty!

If you don't like me..........bite me, but do not start  s h i t  with me about patriotism and being American (especially when you don't even know me) because I am not proud to kill.

George wrote in the Gun Debate thread....

For the record, I am one American who would like to get out (if and when the opportunity presents itself I will be on my way).  There are a number of places I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my days, heck just to the North is Canada, I would rather be living there in Vancouver or something.

That is how I feel about where America is going.  I firmly believe in what my country stands for, from......let's say, the perspective of a 16 year old, but from where I sit, the direction the government has been headed and where our reputation has gone is not where I want to be.  You are better of being Canadian if traveling the globe than if you are from the states.

Feel free to quote me all you like, and to think what you will.  I meant what I said when I said it but it is all of this type of "pride" that disgust me and is ruining the world's perception of America.  Maybe that does make me less of an American in your book but I happen to know different.

Thanks for posting that Sluff. I have a son in the reserves, and am more sensitive now, to what our country stands for. He is so proud to be a member of a group responsible for protecting our shores. God bless America, and our citizens, who can enjoy freedoms not always available to others.  :usaflag;
