In da House.

« on: June 28, 2007, 03:57:00 AM »

Just got back from my hospital appointment (which went well) to get a phone call from my mum. Our old family dog is very poorly, she cant walk at all today and has just messed herself. We knew this day was coming as she is a good age but i didnt expect it to be today. So i am sat here waiting for my mum to ring to tell me what time the vet is coming to put our old friend to sleep , i cant be there to say goodbye ..GOD WHAT A HORRIBLE DAY.

I'm so sorry to hear about your family pet. I too went through this not too long ago and I know it isn't easy. Know I'm there with you in your time of sorrow.

Oh honey. That just hurts, to have to lose a longtime family pet. I've had to do that, and after several years, it still hurts. Can you call,
at least, and say goodbye to her on the phone?

Kickstart, my heart cries for you. My pets have always been like members of the family and it still makes me sad to think of the ones I've lost over the years. Take care, and have a good cry. :grouphug;

I will keep you in my thoughts Kickstart. I am still grieving for my 18 year old bull terrier X, Diesel, put to sleep on 23 January 2006 so I really understand how you feel. I am sorry you can't be there in person, but you are with him in spirit. And if the worst happens, you'll know he was given a great life and a compassionate conclusion. Be proud of that, your dog loves you for it.

I am so sorry!  I know how sad you must feel, even though it's the best thing for her.  It's so hard to lose our furry friends, they become a part of us.  I have lost a few over the years and it just never gets easier.  I'm sorry you can't be there with her to say goodbye, just think beautiful thoughts of her today.   :cuddle;

I have a 10 year old lab, Skye who we know is living on borrowed time.  She still has great spirits and can get around, but we don't know for how long.  Sometimes I just cuddle up with her and give extra hugs and kisses, it will really be hard to let her go.

You and your dog will be in my thoughts and prayers today.

*hugs* KS.... I know you are sad but think Sacha will be resting in peace soon and not sick/sore/tired/unhappy/suffering.... and I know when the time comes for my Celeste I will feel horrible and upset and everything but I'd rather she wssn't suffering or feeling unwell or unhappy.

you have my condolences too. pets are more than friends, better than family, in my world.
may your grief be swift and pure.

it seems that the ultimate lesson in life is letting go. letting go of friends, family, pets, and eventually, life itself.

Pets become like our little furry children, so losing them can be quite rough.  :grouphug;

Losing a pet hurts every bit as much as losing a human friend or family member, perhaps more since they are the ultimate expression of love - so nonjudgemental and always there for you. I am sorry for your loss.

I don't know for sure if there's a heaven, but if there is, it can only be heaven if our beloved pets are there too.

I don't know for sure if there's a heaven, Alene

There is.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Having gone through the loss of my beloved pet Bunny Buddy in May all I can add is that once the initial shock
passes with time, you will be able to focus on the love and good times with your pet.

Personally I believe, hope and pray that I will see my loved pets on the other side.

It isn't ever easy to lose a loved one. Pray for them. Talk to them as if they were still in the room with you
and let them know what is in your heart and mind.

Hang in there and keep your head up.
