Well i guess this part is not a vacation but on the 7th of july im doing a 5k walk for "habitat for humanity".  i did it last yr and it was very rewarding.  this yr i have walking shoes so it should be much easier on my feet.  ;)
Hey Tubes ...Good for you in doing the Habitat for Humanity walk. If you see Jimmy there, say hello for us. Or, if we see him in Plains we'll say hello for you (if you'd like). At the very least we'll drink some Billy Beer and eat some extra boiled peanuts on your behalf.
Looking forward to meeting both of you too, and everyone else.  :2thumbsup;  Whats Billy Beer and extra boiled peanuts?  ??? :-\  Also, who is Jimmy?   :lol;

Hi Tubes  :waving;,

Rolando has brought it to my attention that it is possible that you (gasp) may not be old enough to remember:

 ;D Jimmy ;D (peanut farmer from Plains, GA) or his brother,
 Billy (who capitalized on his brother's fame, endorsing a beer)  :beer1;

Is it true that you ( :oops;) weren't even... (oh, this is so traumatic) ...BORN... when I was voting for him for president???

Now, as for boiled peanuts ... oooh, ahhh!
They are a wonderful and uniquely southern phenomena. I had no idea such a thing existed until I moved from NJ to Florida at the age of 32 - I went 32 years missing out on this little bit of heaven. They are just that - boiled peanuts, green peanuts. They are warm and soft and salty and sometimes spicy - we will be eating plenty of them on our upcoming return from New Orleans through the deep south to Tampa. The extra boiled peanuts are those additional ones we eat on your behalf.
(ozzies, I understand that there's a :ausflag; connection to boiled peanuts, is this true?)

The time has come. Tomorrow we are off to New Orleans.  :clap;

Last time we traveled we weren't prepared - when we hit those gaps in radio coverage, we had only one CD to get us through - ABBA's greatest hits. Now I like ABBA ok, at least for the first 30 times we played the CD. After about the 50th time  :P my brain started bleeding. I am headed out to the car right now to smash the CD up into little tiny pieces.

We're better prepared this time (reservations? no! packed? of course not! exact route? no way, where's the adventure in that?  ;) ) But, Rolando has been diligently preparing a wide variety of music CDs for us to enjoy en route.

We are looking forward to tomorrow and Rolando is keeping his fingers crossed hoping for violent, rainy weather, his favorite!

Bourbon Street, here we come! :bandance; :beer1; :2thumbsup;

Hi everyone, Im going to Maui for a week in July, I was there last july too, I did 3 islands, Oahu, Kauai, and Maui,  Im hooked and I cant stay away from Hawaii, I'll be taking a boat ride to the island of Molokai for a day while I'm there too, that will make it 4 islands out of six. When I got my transplant in June 2005, I swore I would go back to school and go on great vacations, my house needs fixing and I'm living month to month but   I have to go......I just have to, I don't know how long my kidney will last and I need to be in that special place where the sun starts to set and the tide gets calm , holding a beer in my hand with my toes in the sand...and I'm over 4000 miles from home, you close your eyes for a few seconds and everything seems to make sense..........do you feel it?.............. besides, Hotwire has really great packages!

What a beautiful country we have!  My trip to Dallas was fun too.  Learned all about the BabyK Fresenius and the Aquaboss RO.  Off this week - my best friend is visiting with her daughter - my goddaughter who is 12 - we're hanging out and going to the Air and Space Museum in DC.

Decisions, decisions... after swearing I would never get on another ship after 4 days down with Norwalk virus last year we decided to go back to Alaska. It was our second trip there and the weather was almost perfect.  Much of the wilderness there is virtually untouched.  Alaska is a place of great natural beauty and is a great place to relax.  I think I want to live there!

Here are a few pictures:  Ice water..White water..The Mountains..The Menu..Dinner time and the best cheeseburgers in Alaska at mile 33!

An eagle you say?  Tons of bald eagles were to be found around Haines.  Here are a couple of them.

Our daughter Becca and I went to NY and Maine. I haven't gotten through all the NY photos but thought I would post a few of our 3 day stay in Maine. We visited friends who have a home on Peak's Island, a ferry ride from Portland. That's their gray house, and the red and white striped house is the guest house. There is a pond in the back of the property and the ocean in front. We also went with them on a double masted schooner for a nice sail out in Penobscot Bay.

The rest of the photos are here if you're interested --> http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11431&l=a350a&id=783018071
 Thanks for looking! Love comments or critique.

Beautiful pictures!!!  I love Maine and head up there about twice a year.  Bar Harbor is a favorite of ours.  We love to drive Scenic Route 1 up to Portland.  I'm biased, but I think New England is just beautiful and I love living here!!!!
