So finally after years, I treated myself. I bought a DELL.

Dimension E510 Series Pentium® D 820 with Dual Core Technology (2.80GHz, 800FSB)
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512M)
Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard
Monitor 20 inch Ultrasharp™ 2001FP Digital Flat Panel
128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory
250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
Single TV Tuner + Remote Control
13 in 1 Media Card Reader
Operating System Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition
Mouse Dell® 2-button USB mouse
Network Card Integrated Intel® PRO 10/100 Ethernet
16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability
Sound Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Speakers Dell A525 30 Watt 2.1 Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer
IEEE 1394 Adapter
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD

$1,041 out the door. (TAX, shipping, handling included)

Plus I picked up that 320GB SATA HD at Best Buy this week for $129 but it rang up $119 and I had a $20 Rewards Zone cert. I used so I got the drive for $99

I owe it all to my friend "Ross" owner/admin of http://www.gottadeal.com Thanks Ross for the heads up and the coupon.

Cool.  I wish I knew what all that stuff means, but it sounds impressive. LOL

Joe is getting me a new one for my birthday.  All I've requested is lots of memory, and fast.  Oh, and a pretty bag for it (it's a laptop).

I hope you have a list of swear words to use as you switch it over.   I could have cursed up a storm when I loaded my new one up a year ago.

Not bad, except the video card. Pre-built systems often skimp on the video card and no one seems to notice.

This is the computer I built in February:

Processor:............... AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
Motherboard:...........EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra
Memory:................. 2GB Gskill 2-3-2-5 RAM
Video card:.............. eVGA Geforce 7800GT 256MB
Monitor....................Acer 1914B 19" 1280x1024 Flat Panel LCD
Hard Drive: ..............Western Digital SE16 320GB 16MB Cache HD
Optical Drive:............NEC ND-3550A DVD Burner
TV Tuner..................Leadtek PVR2000 TV/FM Radio Tuner
Power Supply............Seasonic S12-500
Case:.......................Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower
UPS (backup power)..OPTI-UPS Enhanced Series ES1000C 1000VA 700W UPS

I almost forgot, enjoy your new PC! Now you gotta get some cool software for it. :)

Sounds pretty good epoman.

By the way.  If anyone is confused about the geek talk about computers and wants to learn more so they know what they have or want to know what to look for when shopping for a new computer, feel free to PM or IM me.  I build my own computers and have built many pc's for quite a few companies, I believe I can help.

Yeah I have been building computers since the early 90's, however since companies like DELL came along and drove prices down, It is not much different, sometimes cheaper now-a-days to just buy a DELL instead of building it myself. I used to go to computer shows and but all the parts and build it, but like I said now-a-days I just save myself the trouble and buy a DELL, I have never really been into hard-core gaming or overclocking so I really don't need a custom computer. Plus I got burned out of having everyone I know asking me for computer advice.

Yeah, I did.  It was a cheesy joke .exe file that asked you if you would like to win a free gift from coke a cola.  The reward was that it would execute the eject command on your CD drive and tell you, here is your cup holder.  :D  Unfortunately, I was unable to find it last night.  :(
